Which is true. The psych lab at the college in town used to have a big red button in the office which was labeled 'NEVER TOUCH UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE.' It was hooked up to a counter that kept track of how many times it was pushed. (Over seven hundred in the first month.)

Is there a name for it?
No other species seems to have such a stupid sense of self-preservation...
Curiosity may have killed the cat but it exterminated humans first.

Actually, I guess that it's just a double-edged sword ... the very same curiosity that has us push buttons also has us invent stuff and explore the world, will likely make us explore the stars as well some day.
Without this "compulsion" to try out new things, humanity would probably still dwell in caves, not even having discovered how to make fire yet.

Prisoners would not be technically committing 'mutiny' (that's a crew thing and convicts are NOT crew). The convict decks would also be separated from the crew decks. The convicts would NOT be able to access the bridge without crew assistance (and those crew that did would be mutineers who would - most likely - be executed)
Insurrection would be put down the same way the Imperium handles every other form of it. Brutally and finally. The captains would have no compunctions against spacing any troublesome convicts if necessary. They have forfeited any rights by commiting crimes against the imperium, after all.
Besides, warm bodies are the one thing the imperium of man has in abundance.

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.
That is not dead which can eternal lie ...

I didn't know that. Thanks for mentioning it.

On what do you base this? I'm not arguing, but I just wanted to know what your source is. Assumption? A 40k supplement? Real life basis?

If they lost, sure. Prison riots have been suceeding for as long as there has been prisons. I see no reason to think that's going to change in the future.
