The Imperium doesn't need Chaos to survive. They'd be better off if the Gods were destroyed.

Sorry, I meant to say Chaos needs the Imperium. So if the Imperium was about to go down, would the Chaos gods help out?

If humanity was about to be annihilated I would assume they would divert a lot of their attention to try and convert them to Chaos, and this provide them with aid. Humans are their prime source of worship after all.
