Seems Aurelia has resubbed while I'm at work, around the same time I posted earlier ironically. So in all likelyhood I'll resub myself later to see if there has been much of a change, somes times a month or two off, as I have just had can recharge my WoW batteries.

My friend got me into it last week. If it wasn't for him I would probably not play. The community seems to have gone even further downhill then when I gave it a try 3 years ago, and I have no interest in joining a guild of strangers, so I suspect either more people I know will get on my realm or I'll drop out after a while.

I used to play up until the WOTLK release with 2 full epic sets of gear for pvp and raiding but realised that you are constantly going to be paying for new expansions/content etc and gave up and started 40k again

Aye, I remember, but theres a bit of difference of doing an april fool, and registering that name over the many trademark claims as listed on the link. Also the fact this was registerted only a week ago, mere months before Blizzcon makes me ponder there is more going on than a fool. A new continent is pretty much needed for the next expansion, and is another sub continent would sort it out. Not sure who the baddies would be, and would Pandaren be the first race where you get to pick a faction at the end of their starting story?

Interesting, considering a trademark filing and prosecution can be a few thousand dollars.
Burning Crusade was registered in May 2005 and announced in October. Also, Wrath of the Lich King was filed in July 2007, then announced in August. Cataclysm was registered in June 2009, then announced in August.
Playing on the US trademark website...

I'm a recovering addict. Sometimes I get drawn back in by shiney new expansions, but usually I just level myself up to the new cap, get bored and then quit again.
I do this exact thing, i play during the summer while i work and relax, go back to school and figure out i have a life. I love MMO's and have played everyone out there but WoW was always the most consistent. Came out in 04 or whenever, got a solid fan base, and continues to put out recycled garbage. They have made raiding harder but also more time consuming, and i mean consuming. Just to be raid ready you needed all purples, in vanilla purples were shiny and amazing where as now they are mediocre. I am going to try Warhammer online again due to the fact i enjoy that concept more than WoWs. Any new updates/feautres that make it worth playing again?

I've been clean for over a year, before that I raided at a high level for around 5 years and was a former High Warlord (which half killed me).
It was a great game and probably still is with the right people, but when my guild of 3 years disbanded I had no reason to continue playing as the game had been stale for awhile.
|
The question isn't why do I kill. The question is, why I don't kill everybody. |

I've got a couple of friends that are WoWzers, but I just can't get into it. It just seems like there are better (gameplay, graphics, etc.) MMO's out there. My buddy always says 'but they won't have as many players, MILLIONS play WoW'. To which I ask - and they're all on there at once?

Resubbed and playing on a Roleplay realm properly (all add ons etc,) pretty much from scratch. It has been eye opening and interesting in general.
Had a look over at my main alts on my main realm, but still not in the mood for lvl 85 stuff yet, just happy to be messing about at low level. Waiting to see what happens at Blizzcon now, a new expansion might make me stick around.
Not sure.

I wouldnt say im a Wow addict, sure when I first joined I spent as much time on as I could to catch up with my lvl 80 friends.
But since they left then so did I, and Iv resorted to only playin when theres 7 days free time.
When that runs out ill just go back to my trial account (made it and forgot about it till i started playin after buyin the Cds) and level a crap load of alts on various realms to lvl 20, then Ill see what ones to carry on with if i renew my subscription.
TBh im havin alot more fun on other games like Runescape, Oblivion and Minecraft currently.
PS: Dont start the whole RS is crap, Wow and RS are totally different games.

Sounds like a lot of you have some disdain for this game. I for one like it, but then again I can have fun with it, and not make it feel like work. I haven't played in a few months though, just had other things to do but I may go back. Maybe that's what made me keep playing, I played on and off, taking long breaks every once in a while, so it didn't get stale. Plus I know a lot of people who play, and that always makes it more fun.

I wouldn't call it disdain with me.
It is just having the same thing repackaged with a new level cap that lost me. The game was great, fun, revolutionary, all that stuff in Vanilla wow when I started. Burning Crusade was great. After that, I just sort of grew out of it. It felt like I did the same thing with every expansion.
Now, being out of it for a while, I just don't have the time or patience to be able to play it again.

I don't have disdain for the game, more disdain for those whom I play it with and the fact that whenever I start a class I like, it's seen to that it gets a nerf just as I hit a reasonable level or the level cap, so I can't even do half the endgame content because of the class elitism that is (or was when I played it before the Firelands patch) rife within the game.
For my Paladins, Warriors and Priest (the only classes I felt actually appealed to me), it was either Prot(Pala/Warr)/Holy(Pala/Priest)/Disc(Priest) or GTFO, and I had 0 interest in any of those specs.
For Warriors, I preferred Arms (which was mainly PvP, and i'm a PvE player) and Fury (if there was a DK or better geared melee DPS in the raid team, you weren't even given a thought except as a last resort). For Paladins, I was sick of tanking, because it was the only way I could get groups, and more often than not, I didn't get any gear because dungeons/my bosses weren't completed because some DPS/Healer start a domino-effect group-leave for no reason; and I much preferred Retribution, which was (until Firelands, i've heard) the epitome of uselessness in a PvE Raid situation.
As a Priest, I was only really comfortable in Shadow, which was reasonable, but I was dumped in favour of Mages most of the time, and replaced by them in dungeon groups, or was left rolling against someone else for the gear I needed, and losing it every. Single. Time.
The game itself was quite fun, it's just the people I was unfortunate enough to have to play it with, and the mechanics of how it all worked (and apparently, a LOT of bad luck, for example I shelled out for valor point gear, only to hear from my brother it's all become JP gear now and been replaced by the next raiding tier... It took me months to gather enough VPs for some token gear pieces, and i'll be fethed if i'm doing it again).

Mandorallen turned back toward the insolently sneering baron. 'My Lord,' The great knight said distantly, 'I find thy face apelike and thy form misshapen. Thy beard, moreover, is an offence against decency, resembling more closely the scabrous fur which doth decorate the hinder portion of a mongrel dog than a proper adornment for a human face. Is it possibly that thy mother, seized by some wild lechery, did dally at some time past with a randy goat?' - Mimbrate Knight Protector Mandorallen.
