I was replying to Duke.

Mandorallen turned back toward the insolently sneering baron. 'My Lord,' The great knight said distantly, 'I find thy face apelike and thy form misshapen. Thy beard, moreover, is an offence against decency, resembling more closely the scabrous fur which doth decorate the hinder portion of a mongrel dog than a proper adornment for a human face. Is it possibly that thy mother, seized by some wild lechery, did dally at some time past with a randy goat?' - Mimbrate Knight Protector Mandorallen.

Ah ok.

By the way, I didn't know that monstrous cavalry is immune to KB... That gives at least some more survivability, with so few things having HKB... But as you say, the lack of a ward save is hurting him.

Guess I could write it again, does any of these two sound reasonable?
I could change his magic resistance to a usual ward save, that would make him much more survivable, or if I put a spell destroyer in the chains (1UO) which would make him more anti-magic and thus fluffier but still as vulnerable to certain things.

Changing MR(3) to a base 5+/4+ ward, and granting the unit a he is with a static 6+ ward against spells might be better; remember that a Juggernaut already has MR(1), so any unit he joins will get a 5+ ward against spells, as opposed to a 4+ ward, whereas Destandor will get a 4+/3+ ward against spells, and have a 5+/4+ ward base, which is along the same lines as most Lord-level characters.

Not sure what to do about the spell destroying chains. I prefer the idea of simply just making spells harder to cast By D3 or D3+1 when they're targeting Destandor or a unit he is with.

HE High Mages get a spell that makes all spells harder to cast by 3 until the HE's next magic phase, for only a 7+ and it doesn't count towards their maximum number of spells and is cumulative; i'd say a non-cumulative D3 or D3+1 for a single spell is a pretty fair trade-off, especially since units with Destandor will be targeted by all the large and powerful spells, and they will probably have had enough dice chucked into them to make them IF, or uncaring about an extra 1-3/2-4 to cast.

You can keep the destroyer and make it D3 harder to cast by saying "If the D3 would cause a sucessful spell to instead fail, then once per game, Destandor may choose to destroy that spell on a roll of 4+/5+/6+ (4+ & automatic dispel is regular spell destroying, 5+ makes it a bit fairer, and 6+ would make it a nice added effect that is reasonably difficult to activate)."

Hmmm... I like what you have there. It combines both the first and the second version well... Then I'd say the spell destroying should either be on 4+ or 5+, as it happening is quite casually.

Hm! I now got a sort of crazy idea! What if he can try to drain the magic from IF spells as well, but only if he rolls a 6 on the D3 - this will make it not be a IF, but instead just counting it as a spell usually cast, using the total of the dice?
