1) Puppet Wars: I was pretty excited for this release but after a demonstration I didn't buy. I thought the mechanics were overly complex for a board game that was attempting to be simplistic. When I looked at what came in the box and compared to the price point, there was no way I could dive in. I was told that you might find certain minions would work better with masters but there is no way to get multiples of minions at this time w/ out buying multiple expansion packs @ $32 each. When you look at what you get w/ Super Dungeion Explore for a $5 cheaper MSRP it really isn't a hard choice from a "content" standpoint or game quality.
Well I was a fan of sodapop super dungeon explore idea until I saw the miniatures I mean they better be cheap because the lack of texture, soft detail and pretty bland concepts really killed it all for me, I was very disapointed.. but when I saw the Puppet wars miniatures pics, damn! those are some sweet sculpts all around! So games aside and just commenting from the miniature quality standpoint I can understand Puppet wars being a bit more expensive.

I played the Dust Warfare demo as well and I agree that there is a lot yet to be worked out. They said as much though, as the game won't be out until probably early next year. So there is a lot of stuff to hammer through until then. It will be interesting to see where things go with it.
I also agree on the Puppet Wars. I didn't do an actual demo, but I watched some. For $80 it was just entirely too expensive for what it was.

FWIW - those pics in the early part of the thread regarding White Wolf were for last year's booth. This year, they were in the back corner of the exhibit hall and were partnered with DriveThruRPG. In addition to recent releases and author signings, they also had a number of POD releases from DriveThruRPG publishers.
The 40K RPG seminar was primarily a discussion of recent releases and Q&A about them. FFG's rules regarding not speculating about upcoming products were fully enforced. As a freelancer, I was restricted to discussing things which had already been posted to the website.

They are going for complete scalability across the game... so both large and small games play well. I got that the day prior to my demo. I take that with a grain of salt since the rules didn't seem too stable.
@Navarro. I'm looking complete package of these board games, not just minis only. But a set of 52 vs. 18 is substancial for a similar price point. Having held and used both, I like the SDE product better. Again.. not a display mini...a board game.

I know I know mate and I don't even comment on that, Its just me and my freaked up prespective on things, for me its all about the minis, the rest its just extras that I can live with ... I would even buy all puppets alone with no game or cards if I had that possibility.

This is where I stand. I love the models I've seen from both games and would love to cherry pick them. The price tag for both is definitely out of my casual-purchase range, but nabbing one from the FLGS from time to time would be something the missus would allow.
Did anyone stop by the On The Lamb booth? They were supposed to by right next to WoTC...

BTW: This weekend also saw the Games Day Germany. Here an extended list of all news and interesting pics:
/End of list.
Edit: Okay, found some posts: All say that it was basically a bigger GW store: Almost no decoration, only focus was selling things to noobs, only standard boards and terrain, no big awesome display. No news, not even a Finecast presentation. Several visitor displays hidden in a badly lit part of the hall. Not that many visitors. Most posters said, they won't attend next year.
Some pics: https://skydrive.live.com/?cid=C9EDD31159BEEAE9&id=C9EDD31159BEEAE9!658&sc=photos

So the ExIllis booth also was from last year. Last thing I heard is that they found a poor chap willing to burn some more money in the same project.

Fortune and Glory by Flying Frog was great and a pretty big seller, even for it's $100 price point.
Deadwood by FFG was fun. Demoed it and friend bought a copy and we played the hell out of it. It's more fun with 3+ people but 2 people can play it and it's still reasonably fun. We found when playing with two people, go ahead and have each player play two people.
Reiner Knizia was there. He was looking real busy so I didn't get to talk with him or get a picture. He has a new game coming out that's Star Trek based (think that is old news though).
Blood Bowl Team Manager is fun. The first thing to know going in is: It's not Blood Bowl. As people have said this is very different. So don't go into thinking you are going to get a game of blood bowl, but with cards. It keeps some of the feel of the IP but makes it much more high level.

H.B.M.C. wrote:So anyone got any news from the 40K RPG seminar that FFG did?
I was at the WH 40k RPG Seminar on Thursday. They briefly covered their older stuff then talked about what was contained in their Black Crusade expansion. They told us (the audience) that we should pay attention to the website for any new up coming stuff.
There was several questions over how Black Crusade would interact with the other books and rule sets. There was several questions on if there were any ideas about creation of other races, specific Chaos Legion PCs, and other stuff. Every question was basically answered with "Watch the website."
And if there was anyone from here who was there, I was the one in the very left side of the room, in the 2nd to last row. With the mutton chops...and I was one of like three people who raised their hand when asked "Anyone new or doesn't know what Deathwatch/Black Crusade/Rogue Trader/Dark Heresy?"
Also, the individual who is taking over Deathwatch for FFG seemed comparitively young to the rest of their team there.

When I get home, I will post a picture of the demo game I was watching once I get home from work. It looked like they was playing on a cardboard board approximately 3' x 3'. Each section of the board was 1' x 1', contained 9 squares for "areas" where each unit was in. They had cardboard squares representing buildings and cards giving the stats of each unit. I did not watch how it was played as I had other stuff to go do. Each side had 2 "mech" things and 3 infantry units with some rocket launchers and machine guns.
