As an aside, the Judas Priest "Painkiller" album tracks "painkiller", "hell patrol" and "all guns blazing" always remind me of the noise marines.

Blastmasters were originally bass guitars, I think. Sonic Blasters were lead guitars or trumpets, while Doom Sirens were invented by Fabius Bile, originally as augmented vocal chords, then weaponised.
