Grey Templar wrote:Yeah, the Tau still actually belive the Daemocles Gulf Crusade was a true show of the Imperium's power.
They literally have NO idea just how vast the Imperium is, or the current threats which prevent the Imperium from squishing the Tau empire like the gnat it truly is.
If I was writing the next Tau codex, I would have a Tyranid fleet come and eat the Tau Empire, with survivors fleeing to the Farsight Enclaves.
Farsight then manages to defeat the Nid fleet at horrendous cost.
He then does massive reorganization of the Tau Empire by destroying the Etherial Caste, because the "Weakness and complacency of the so called 'Greater Good' only led to our home land's destruction"
Then the Tau, under Farsight, embark on a crusade of Conquest throughout the eastern fringe. the Tau have also managed to reverse engeneer the Tyranid Narvhal and, using a subjugated race as the psykers required to operate it, are able to properly travel around. although the process is still slower then the Imperium's Warp Drive, it is much faster, and longer ranged, then the previous Warp Skimming they did.
I now understand why you are a Grey Knight player...you just can't get enough of the atrocious fluff.
[I will expand this thought a bit more: It's perplexing that some people find the Tau so problematic. They've got a very unique place in the
40k universe, as an army on the table and in the fluff. I think that their tabletop presence could be expanded with the addition of more mercs perhaps, but I digress.
The fluff of their existence, is much less of a stretch of the establish fluff than:
- The Ultramarines stopping a Hive Fleet in it's tracks at their homeplanet instead of being eaten
- Draigo.
- Blood Angels and Necrons allying
- The Crimson Fists survival. Read the book, and live in puzzlement.
- The Orks not being crushed at Armageddon #3. Read the numbers presented at the back of the Codex: Armageddon. Even with very liberal number use for the Orks and conservative estimates for the Imperium...the Orks are still woefully outmatched.
- Marbo
What I tend to read, when I see Tau-hate, is posters with an American flag next to their name. Those people in real life, usually present as either
IoM fanboys, or the "15-concealed-guns-carried-at-once, flag-waving-commie-hating-america-loving" diehards who would rather shoot themselves than play anything but American in games like Axis & Allies.
Is my general impression all-inclusive of people with such opinions? No. But the stereotype is there beyond my own impressions, for a reason. And it *does* get old.
Yes, the Tau have a very anime-Gundam feel to them.
They also are the closest thing to intergalactic Space Commies that exist in
40k.
They're also protected by plot/profit-armor from
GW.
And?
If the Tau need to go, then Marbo and Draigo need to be killed off, the Ultramarines need to be eaten, the Orks need to get of Armageddon, and the Void Dragon just needs to get around to taking over the Mechanicum already. Not to mention the Doom of Malantai should've never happened, Noches Sturm should've been executed on the spot, and Ibram Gaunt shouldn't have killed off a Chaos Warlord. Don't even get me started on the Last Chancers.
Congratulations; we've just killed off many of the stupidly interesting parts of Warhammer
40k in it's current presentation.]
