Ok, but if you believe the Space Wolf Omnibuses (Omnibusi?) then didnt Ragnar find the 13th company (remains of it, anyways) and Russ wasn't there?

This is my Leman Russ. There are many out there like it, but this one is mine. Without it, I am useless. Without me, it is useless.

He found some of them.

IIRC, he either didn't ask about Russ or he got little more then a wink wink and a nod in response.

Angron has stats. Official ones. Albeit they are apocalypse only.
Of course, they don't nearly represent what he should really be, but whatever, he's there.

Only if you let Ward have his way.

This one has my vote.

As for the last quote in the codex, I know its in the codex as his final quote. But there is no reference anywhere else about anything that resembles his death. Every other image of him has him leaving on a grande quest to hunt down the traitors, much like the 13th Co. He leaves in glory and fanfare and disappears. Even in the codex it pretty much says that exact thing. That one quote in the codex is out of left field, with no supporting references or premise for it. So I think that it was some writer taking a liberal license to do what they felt was dramatic and sounded like a great "death quote" to throw in there, as opposed to actual cannon.

So I call shenanigans and will ignore it. And when Russ comes back, I will laugh at the naysayers.

Grunt: Wait, but those are ladies, we cant hurt ladies.
Sarge: Those arent ladies, they're Deamonettes. They will tear you limb from limb and eat your soul.

Isn't Corax more likely to return though, since he didn't attack the Eye of Terror? He just upped and left.

If GW ever decides to do a 'return of the Primarchs' thing, then Russ is probably the first one on their list of 'guys we gotta bring back.'

Guilliman is almost certainly higher up on the list than Russ.

I think Russ would be higher on the list of returning Primarchs if only that Russ would go fight the enemies of the Imperium of which there are too many to 'end'. Gulliman would be too OP being a strategist and administrator fixing all the war fronts and supply errors.

It's going to the end of things when a Primarch returns, there won't be much to fix. It's more likely that they'll all return at once.

Russ' deathbed quote first appeared in the original SW codex, if it were wrong, I would surmise it wouldn't be in the current codex - yet there it is!

Maybe he said it to his followers after fighting the eye of terror and dies there...?

It's more likely that they won't return at all, on account of most of them being dead.

The various stories of the Primarchs vowing to return or healing from mortal wounds are intended to be a little glimmer of light on the darkness of the 40K setting. They're not a sign that any of the Primarchs will ever actually come back, just something that the Marine Chapters hold up as a beacon of hope.

I agree, but if they were to, which is a possibility considering many of their locations and status's are not known, and few aren't dead, The Lion being one of them it would be the end of The Imperium, or in it's absolute darkest hour, meaning what would be needed in a leader, a general, and a beacon to the ordinary people. Hate to say it but Guilliman fills all those rolls pretty well, more so than any other. I agree though that their prophesied returns are more symbolic than true.

Not really, Bulveye wasn't changed yet apart from the eyes. Neither was Torvald and quite a big bunch of the grey hunters.

I dont have the quotes in front of me atm, but I remember one of them saying that they were led by a hulking, more so then other astarte werewolves, feral human monster. I took it as a possibility of Russ, but more likely bulveye. Any wolf lord would be a dominating war god by himself. A Primarch would have taken up as much attention as the rest of the 13th co by himself, this guy was just noted as the leader.

And not all of the 13th co had become wulfen, just a large percentage of them. The rest were still marines. Marines they may or may not have succumbed bloodlust and insanity for having been in the warp and fighting for 10k years, but marines none the less.

Russ says specifically he is dying in the quote in the first and in the current SW codices. In fact he says it twice.

There is no date nor location mentioned...so it could have been stated while he was in the eye of terror.....

But I would think a primarch as well versed in death dealing as him would recognise a fatal condition and, presumably, would have all the wolf priests available working on him, and yet he still categorically states he is dying.

Pretty conclusive to me

Hey if the 13th legion could still be alive and fighting(as they are according to the last space wolves book) then of course their primarch is still alive. The only reason he hasn't come back as it's probably only been a few years for him as the warp is tricky that way and he figures he has time to kill doing his mission.

Whats more likely is that GW will open up an expansion to 40k about the HH.

it will be a book with all Primarchs prior, during, and after the heresy and some specific Legion rules/FoC and additional units like Jetbikes.

If i was in charge of GW, I would bring a couple of loyalist primarchs back. and to counter this, a couple Traitor primarchs would start making appearences too. I would also make the rules support larger games. Superheavies and Flyers would be introduced into normal games and Forge World rules would be permissable. Appoc would be redone as special rules for games over 5000 points and with multiple players per side. Titans and similer units would be labeled Appoc only of course.

sorry meant to say that it is possible for their primarch to still be alive as his men are still around and you would expect him to be tougher. Also I meant to say 13th company not legion.
