SW player had 30 Marines in tanks near an objective and looked to change his gameplan late game. It was a pretty poor decision (and the fact of him not knowing what Wave Serpents do compounded it).

SW should have placed himself centrally in the board and used the vehicles to shield his Long Fangs from WW, then concentrate on vehicles. His play looked like he was fairly inexperienced against an Eldar army.

It does show that armylists alone don't win games. One has to 1. know how to play their own army and 2. know what they are facing.

Interesting report. Was this a Vassal game? I'm assuming it was.

He has recently Changed his army from Guard. As I already said, he has never played my eldar before, and has only had a few low points games against them before. And finally, yes it was on vassal.

Is the games he has played previously against your eldar or a different eldar player because this sentence just contradicts itself.

Spacewolves: 1850pts
Darkeldar: 1850pts
Dwarfs: 2400pts

Nice report but the lack of terrain, eeeek!

#3 Why the hell did he get out of his tanks down south turn 5? That pretty much cost him the game right there

and instead of parking both Rhinos on the objective and hunkering down, he went after your Wave Serpents (a terrible move) and made it impossible to contest your objective in turn 6.

Couldnt agree more, I thought I had missed a turn when I was looking at the pics, bizarre move.

He was playing for a win, not a draw. He wanted to stop Serpents and THEN go for Objectives. Guess you miss that slight point.

Except he was never going to win the NW objective, so the best he was ever going to get was a draw, as it was he turned a draw into a loss. Woodbok even admitted in his own report the NW objective was a write off in terms of a clear victor:

This is the turn I'll start going for the objectives. Since he has war walkers tied up in combat, they won't be killing much, and the objective is a no-go (NW obj - added by Ratius). Whereas the other objective has nothing on it,

Against someone else.

If you look at the rules of 40k you are supposed to use 25% of the board as terrian with a mix of LoS blocking terrain and area terrain. This is why I state 25% terrain and tourneys that use less are wrong. (this is a whole other debate that has been repeated on the forums)

The reason no area terrain and the ruling on the hills was advantagous to the Eldar is because war walkers and skimmers would have clear LoS to the models on top. Had you had fire prisms there would have been a pile of mush up there turn two.

Also, hard there been area terrain there is a good chance the long fangs would have been in it essentially nullifying the dragons from being able to slaughter them such as they did.

Finally, yes getting out of the rhinos did cost him that game if it had ended turn 5. He was the 2nd turn player, if he was on the objective he would have scored it since there was no WS there, unless your pictures don't depict the correct positioning of models at turn's end.
