The only thing that would draw out a RL timeframe is two units of similar strength going at each other and for lack of better terminology always making their saves. i.e gazzy vs abbidon or somthing.
Im not sayin that it would be a never ending duel with no winner, and it dosent even have to be the HQ's it could be som assult termies vrs meganobs. But it could definatly draw out the combat.

this kind of combat would take a little longer and I reckon that RL combat time could actually be anything up to including 15 mins
