He usually runs Logan in a squad of assault marines. Last time I got to kill of Logan with my 'Quins, but that's only because he made the mistake of disembarking a bit to early.

Also, that guy that conjures up a storm of some kind that does something different every turn, how do I deal with that guy? The copulating thing about him is that that storm is not a psyker power...

As for 40 rangers... I have seven. Fire Dragons, I do not possess.

N'jal - the evil SW that does the non-psyker stuff - needs to be attached to a squad. Most of those powers go off within 18" so you will probably have to whether one storm... However he has to be attached to a squad or he will die. I will give you 3 mathhammer equivalents to kill him.

If he is attached to a 10 man grey hunter, you will need 42 wounding shots to kill him which means 84 hitting shots to kill him. So how can you do that? Well 10 DA with exarch with 2 cats bladestorming will generate about 16 hits. Add 2 more and we have 48 hits... Now that only translates into 24 wounds but if you successfully doom him that turns into 36 wounds. That should on average be enough to put one wound on Njal and totally wipe the 10-man squad. I hope that you have a 4th unit to do him in.

As an alternative, 3 war walker squadrons with scatterlasers with two of them guided. That converts into 50 hits... and by average 42+ wounding hits. This drops him like a rock.

Finally 2 pathfinder squads of 9, both guided and doomed target. 8 AP1 hits, 8 regular hits with 1 being AP2 for rending. You should end up with 6 dead from AP 1, 6 regular saves and .75 dead from rending... Low odds but that gives you 2 shots to whack him against his armor... Hit him a third squad of anything and he should drop.

Bottomline, you need two or three squads to strip away his ablative attached squad cover and then another squad to finish him off.

The guy really isn't fielding a legal list, why are you worrying about tactics for beating him?

No two SW HQ choices can bear the same saga. He Is using Logan and Bjorn, who both have saga of majesty.

Its technically cheating.

I don't worry about my list trying to beat the kid who is saying hes going to bring his dad's million bajillion tanks, because I know I won't play a non legal list. Why should you?

Last time we played, we played Apocalypse. That might be why he fielded them ( in Apocalypse anything goes, 's what I've come to understand).

Also, I love your 'nids thread. Keep it up dr. Cox.

Apocalypse is a different story. I'd concentrate on a specific pt level to take on SW. My experience is that Eldar is good at smaller pt levels, up to 1500 pts, but does not scale very well when it comes to higher pt games.

Use those eldar units that sit back and barrage out of sight and make him come to you. And pop those rhinos early to make him walk the board

That's... Illegal.

I would wait until turn two, "notice" it, and then make him choose which one to remove from the game.

This is wrong.

The saga rule page states that special characters are an exception to the "two of the same saga rule". It specifically uses the example of Logan Grimnar, stating that you can take Logan as well as a Wolf Lord with Saga of the Majesty because Logan is a special character. That wouldn't change if you also had Njal in there too. No duplicate sagas only applies to non-special characters.

Arjac Rockfist, you mean? He's one of the best Hammernators in the game, if you ask me. He can also throw his thunder hammer out to 6'' away. Plus, he's not an Independent Character, so you can't snipe him in assault--basically, he's got an I-Can't-Believe-It's-Not-A-Retinue. Shoot him with lots of dakka--you'll need it to get through his 2+/3++, and whatever squad he's hidden in.

Wrong. Special characters are an explicit exception to the saga-stacking rules.
