If true, it's yet another reason to build your own tables and avoid playing in Games Workshop's stores - I've never understood why anyone should want to do that rather than enjoying the comforts of home anyway.

Can you use FW minis in tournaments that are sanctioned by GW, such as Ard Boyz? Not talking super heavies or anything. Say for example I have a Red Scorpions army that I want to use as a regular old vanilla list. Is that a valid army?

FW lists and superheavies aren't allowed, normally.
Models have no issues.

Man, that actually happened to me after I decided to try 40k. Bought a Tau force, mostly infantry and 2 Devilfish (I loved the look of them). Asking for 40k, got paired up with a guy, said he played Imperial Guard.
I thought cool, we'll both have infantry and a few tanks.
Out comes a full armoured company, zero infantry. I asked how he managed that (I owned the IG book at the time as a friend gifted it to me). He handed over some printed Forgeworld army list called Armoured Company. I was a bit nonplussed, but decided to give it a go anyway.
Then the two Fighters* that the IG have came out too. At that point I was a bit annoyed.

1500 I think. Was awhile ago.
Just an anecdotal story really, I don't mind FW stuff so long as the other guy is doing a drop in surprise.

Umm. You have no idea what you're talking about. You're bad. Stop it.
Any GW staff that tells you "you can't use Forge World models" is the same kind of staff that do dumb things like telling people that they can't use a model because they don't know it's a GW model from 10+ years ago. They're bad staff. Rat them out to customer service and get them replaced. It's not GW policy and it's never been GW policy.

Wiat a minute. I could go to FW, buy a few squads of Mk 3 Iron Armor Marines, and take them to a GW to play and they'll just be like "Sorry, you can't use those because they're not from off the shelves"? I think I'd just pick up my army and leave, and forget about anything that I was going to buy. Well too bad for them. They created this problem that they're in, so they should have to deal with it.

I know that there may be a lot of situational stuff involved in the OPs mentioned policy. But let's say I have say 1500 USD invested in a DKoK army build to the codex IG rules and using standard IG vehicles. If a Red shirt told me I couldn't play that army my response would be immediate, include several four letter words, and include a rapid questioning of his sexuality and parentage. Needless to say I would probably not be returning to that store; you know because of the restraining order.
Forgeworld is owned and operated by Games Workshop, sells their products at Warhammer World and Games Days. If I can't play my models that I exchanged hard cash with GW to receive in their retail stores, I can find somewhere else to play and spend money.

Rest all your pretty little heads by contcating GW and finding out what the current policy is towards FW models being allowed on tables instore.
Simple really and saves a blown blood vessel.
