I think a percentage system would serve to dramatically encourage MSU armies (as the FOC would no longer limit many small units in an org section)

I could go for that, that would allow the IG to take vet squads and use them as basically kill squads, not have to be limited to 10 people where I could take 100 something with an infantry platoon.

Praise be to the Omnissiah

IG/"Legion of the Damned" - 5000 points (Cripes, when did that happen?)

Vampire Counts: 1000 points? Maybe? Either way... Welcome to the Jungle

HIDING IN THE METAL BAWKSES!!

IG would probably be too powerful with % system.

If we had %age but more penalties for 25% casualties and 50% casualties and stuff it would make smaller units less viable. Also outnumbering in melee and things like 3rd ed might alleviate it.

2nd edition had a % system, and 2nd edition sucked.

It was something like...

>/= 25% Troops (All non Heavy Weapon infantry)

Up to 50% Support (Vehicles & Heavy Weapon infantry. Allies were taken out of this alotment)

Up to 50% Characters (now known as HQ and in some cases Elites)

Tier 1 is the new Tactical.

Suffolk, where the Aliens roam.

Slightly larger FoC would allow the larger armies, with slightly tighter control.

3 HQ, 4 Elites, Fast and Heavy, 8 Troops

Could see them doing something like that.

I would actually like some more FoC shuffling options.

Like a codex has X FoC points to spend on buying FoC slots. you MUST buy 1 HQ and 2 Troops slots, but the others can be bought at will.

For example, a HS slot would cost 3 FoC points, but a Troops slot would only cost one.

that would allow armies that are focused on a certain FoC slot to take more slots, but it would sacrifice the ability to take other slots.

25 FoC points to spend.

you have 1 HQ and 2 Troops slots.

additional Slots costs are below.

HQ slot: 3 points

Troops slot: 1 point

Elite slot: 5 points

Fast Attack slot: 5 points

Heavy Support slot: 5 points

so you could build an army with 1 HQ, 2 troops, and 5 heavy support slots, but you wouldn't have any Fast Attack or Elites and only 2 troops and 1 HQ.

Percentage may work, but extensive playtesting would have to be done to balance it...

What about a specific type of Foc - like say you build a 'raider/assault' with 1HQ, 3E, 2+T, 3FA 1HS then you get +2 to go first.

Or say 'defenders' 1HQ 1+E 1+Troop, 0-1FA 1-3HS - you get to have d3 'enhanced defences (+1 to cover save?)

I'd like to see a scalable FOC, Like WFB used to have.

Say for every (insert appropriate points value here) over 1500/2000pts you get +1 HQ, +1 Elite, +2 troops, +1 FA, +1 HS.
Maybe make it 750-1000pts?

Might be worth playtesting.
