I actually targeted his unit or 10 dire avengers on his table edge with my dreadknight's heavy incinerator. There were all bunched up and I only killed about half the squad (rolled 3 1's to wound). I also clipped 2 of his war walkers with that shot and proceeded to wreck 1 walker and shake the other. Fortunately for Reecius, his DA's passed morale. Then next turn, he killed my dreadknight.

After that, I didn't have much left to threaten his units, just 2 squads of Interceptors, but they performed brilliantly. 1 squad shot his dire avengers and then multi-charge both his avengers and pathfinders on his objective, wiping them both out. The other multi-charged his fire dragons and 1 wraithlord, wiping them both out as well despite not getting Hammerhand off.

Yeah, they did great. They should have died earlier, but their armor was on hyper power!

I'd say unlicky Jy2 then!
DA's passing morale after a heavy loss w/o the Avatar is....well harsh!

Having said that well played Reece in terms of totally castling up.

JY2, I cant agree with the double shunt early, you were perhaps leaving 1/2 your force open to a total footdar retailaition (even if they had lost the Avatar).

Im not totally familair with the GK rules, could you have shunted everything in T1? IMO end of for Reece if so.....

Yeah he could have, although I don't know if they all could have made it over the screen. But if they could have, then yeah, they probably would have smashed me pretty badly.

I actually missed the rest of the summary when I posted that. Great job! I knew Footdar would do well, but it sounds like both armies got pummeled! Hope to see both your armies at Legends this month, they have 22 people signed up already!

22 already? wow. Two of my teammates, christianA and stave stiff are thinking about coming, too and they are both really good. There is going ti be some stiff comp at round 2.

Better tell your friends to hurry. They cap off at 24 at Legends.

Reece, i don't think he need to shunt all through the wall...
If he shunted everything forward, he would be in your face with a full army, giving you to much targets to handle, and everything would have been in assaulting range, tying up the weak units in hth.

Take this into consideration:
he shunts up all kills your screen, avatar and/or Harlequins, there is not much you can do then try to shoot as much as you can and then suck up the inevitable assault..., one you are bound to loose at that stage.

And get two hammers mind-wared and Interceptor units taken care of by Wraithlords, the third squad dakka'd into Oblivion... And just imagine, what would happen, if you failed to kill Avathar.
Going for a kill in case of Eldrad was a good choice, altough it didn't happen in the end.

Yeah, it was a great game. I thought I was going to lose, then I thought I was going to win a crushing victory and then we tied! Very fun.

There was a big enough gap between my screen and the important units that he couldn't have shot them with heavy incinerators and only could have shot the harlies if he rolled very high on his veil of tears check. Plus, not all of his interceptors were in range to hit the harlies.

Also, he couldn't assault after shunting, so the screen wasn't going to die unless ALL of his units shot it. They were spaced out so he could only get 4 with an incinerator and he would have needed the interceptors to finish the job. I wanted him to waste his shooting on the screen.

I wanted him to come and try and kill the screen, that was my plan. I would then counter attack with my army and most likely crush him.

The Avavtar should have lived, Jy2 rolled well, and I rolled poorly. I failed 5/8 3+ saves. It was a risk, but the odds were in my favor.

As The Weird One Said, I could then pick off weapons or models that were a threat and with doom and guide, wiped out his units. Jy2 played it very smart and bypassed my trap.
