Hi, i'm new to the site but i've been playing the game for a long time, i started with a speed freak army and i still have (an updated version) of the same army.
As for the trukk, no trukk situation i lean towards the trukks, fill them with shoota boyz and keep them in cover for 2 reasons...

1. last turn blast out of cover and grab or contest that vital objective.

2. DRIVE BUY'S!!!!

OK as far as i'm concerned no ork army can truely call themselves speed freaks unless the bikers heavily outway anything else in the army. (whack wazzdakka in there and this becomes easy)
otherwise your just playing evil sunz (which by the way i am a fan)

my current list

Wazzdakka
7 biker nobz painboy powerklaws all round cyborks and a waagh banner
10 bikers nob powerklaw bosspole
10 bikers nob powerklaw bosspole
Bigmek KFF powerklaw cybork eavy armour 3 grots (in battlewagon)
Battlewagon (aka the aporkalypse tank) deffrolla red paint kill kannon zzap gun 4 bigshootas arm plates grot riggas
dakka jet xtra supa shoota fighter ace
dakka jet xtra supa shoota fighter ace

i find the trick is make use of the twinlinkyness of your bikers and dont comit them to a scrap too soon especially against ing marines
the battle wagon is there to soak up firepower and squish anything big that threatens the boyz

and my final point is orks dont really doo mek (unless you go full ) but they do do stompy lists which incorporates lots of dreads my preference is 2 mekboyz free ing up 2 dread troops
another dread and 2 units of killa kans then you do small units of shoota boyz in ..... wait for it...... TRUKKS!! to fill in the gaps and of coarse nobz on foot. this all equals lots of fun. the other option for this is the dread list in the imp armour raid on kastoral novem which is loads of fun mmmmmmm mega dread

ok rant over

Speed kills and that is the bane of the tide list. My tactic is to pick either the left or right and move that way. Against a stationary target a green tide is devastating but flank it and it starts hitting you piecemeal and cant react. OTOH, the appeal of 45 lootas is enticing and that is hard to do with BW list.

Mobility, fire power, and numbers.
At best, an army should have everything.
Speed Freaks have mobilty and fire power, a green tide numbers and fire power.
So both armies play very differently, but Speed Freaks should be more fun.

I would add a third choice:
c) Mek'WAAAGH: A lot of dakka in a lot of BW

(D) All of the above

Greentides are dead killy, but a tad slow. Though when you reach the enemy you will still have enough boys to kill them all.
Speed freek lists (trukks) are generally assaulted the enemy with has many boys that would reach the enemy with greentide (if unlucky), but with a turn 2 arrival as opposed to turn 4.

So this is kinda your typical DnD toss-up. The "Slow and Powerful Soldier" or the "Fast and Furious Rogue"?

Old, old, thread

Start a new thread please.

Plus gorkamorka trukks were part of 40k, they had their own piece of cardboard with their rules.
I prefer using them as rocket buggies.
