I just realized my small error, Wood elves are the ones that call humans that.
just to clarify:
The Eldar word for human is Mon-keigh, but the Wood elf word is Kegh-mon, chew on that

Originally 40k was just WHFB in space, and the Fantasy World was somewhere in the Eye of Terror. Both franchises have since taken their own paths though, which is for the better.

A good example is the Hrud were basically Space Skaven, but have since been completely redesigned since the Xenology book.

There have been several references to the two games being connected. And don't foget that Slaves to Darkness and the Lost and the Damned books had 3 different games inside .

The Liber Chaotica Nurgle book discribes the journey of a scribe from the warhammer universe entering the warp only to see Mortarion and his Marines who sail the stars .

IIRC When the Dark Elves won the Albion event they were rewarded by discovering an ancient gauntlet (powerfist), a sword that could cut through anything (powerweapon), a strange hand-held weapon that destroyed enemies at a distance (bolt pistol) and a suit of indestructable armour that enhanced the wearers strength (power armour).

I also remember a story involing the Empire fighting the hordes of Chaos and within the chaos army were warriors of great size, weilding toothed blades and hand-held weapons that spat death, while wearing armour with grilled masks.

Personally, I've always felt that the Fantasy realm was the center of the Eye of Terror and that the Eye of Terror was born from the same disaster that caused the polar gates of the Fantasy realm to collapse.

Sorry if my sentance structure is a mess .

I never realised there was so much crossover. That is BA.

Pretre: Are repressors assault vehicles? If they are, I'm gonna need emergency pants.
n0t_u: No, but six can shoot out of it. Other than that it's a Rhino with a Heavy Flamer thrown on if I remember correctly.
Pretre: Thanks! I guess my pants are safe and clean after all.

I'd like to throw in my opinion as to eldar:
Eldar are both the high and wood elves together in the future IMO.

Wood Elves:
Glade Guard = Guardians
Glade Riders = Guardian Jetbikes
War dancers = Harlequins

High Elves:
Sword Masters = Howling Banshees
Pheonix Guard = Could be fire dragons, as they do love fire...
Shadow warriors = Striking scorpions
Silver helms = Shining spears

The high elf ones are less obvious, but i think the slight connection is still there.
Even with the worlds are in seperate universes

I might be corrected on this point, but I also believe there was a time where 40k 'gear' found its way via the warp to the fantasy realm. I can't remember where I read about this, maybe some of our more dilligent members could elaborate.

Back in 2001 they had a summer campaign called "Dark Shadows" which involved all of the races sending armies to the newly discovered Albion. After the campaign, I believe Dark Elves came in first, then High Elves (I may be wrong on this one) in second, with Dwarves in third place. As a reward, those three races got an extra item that they could use in their army lists. The Dark Elves essentially had a power fist; it wasn't called that but had the same characteristics as one. I *think* the second place team got essentially a power sword while the Dwarves got a sword that let them strike first.

I may be wrong on some details as it has been some time now and doing a quick search online, I couldn't find anything helpful.
