see for example https://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:GZ41-HyAjIUJ:pubs.usgs.gov/gip/dynamic/understanding.html+&cd=1&hl=en&ct=clnk&client=firefox-a

the rate of movement of the tectonic plates is a few cm per year. times 40.000 is, for example, 80 Km or 50 miles. not much of a difference, eh?

A few cm/year will not add upp to 80km in 40k years....assuming 5cm/year on average it would be 2km in 40k years

I cannot believe in a God who wants to be praised all the time.

and the Oceans, while mostly gone, are still there at the deepest areas. Water that has seeped through the city over centuries to accumulate at the bottom, and then get pumped back up again for use.

Where does it say that?

You ask about the water, or the mountains?

Both, but mainly the water.

Ok, its just logic that there is water still down there. Yes, the Oceans were boiled away by Horus's bombardment, but the Water vapor would have recondensed over time. In fact, such a massive flash boiling of the Oceans would result in the atmosphere becoming water logged and you would have immediate condensation. There would have been torrential rains during the Battle for Terra and visability would have been almost zero from all the mist.

Water will seep down through the city just from the trillions of people living there. in a sense, the city strata will act like porous rock.

So the oceans will still be there, just smaller then they were previously.

Not really. they just say the oceans were boiled away by Horus's bombardment. Nothing precludes the water recondensing and going back to where it was.

you ASSUME that it means the Oceans are completely gone, but that doesn't have to be the case.
