For plastic glue I use Revells glue. It even has a thin metal needle to get into small places. Really strong as well.

Actually I hate the testors bottle. Clogs so easily and that wire they include does not help at all. My bottle is still about 75% full and the tip is clogged. I even tried using my hobby drill to free it up but the clog seems to be a lot deeper. Going to have to cut the whole top off to get the rest. I bought the Humbrol plastic cement and that's much better. Has the metal tip applicator that will clog but is much easier to unclog: http://www.humbrol.com/accessories/glues-and-adhesives/ae2610-28ml-precpoly-disp-ver1-28ml--adhesivesglues/

To unclog any METAL nozzle like that, just hold it in the flame of a lighter for a couple seconds. When you see a little flame come out the end, the tube is clear!

I don't know what you're doing wrong, but that wire really isn't that difficult to use and goes all the way down the stem. In nearly ten years of using Testors, I have never had a clog that couldn't be cleared quickly and easily.

I use Loctite or one of the BSI glues for my stuff. If you do a little research, you'll find there are only a couple of companies who make super glues, and they are al generally the same recipe. So there's no real incentive to use really expensive super glue, when it all comes out of the same tube, so to speak...

Humbrol poly cement. It's cheap and the needle nozzle makes applying it a doddle. I wish GW still sold the bottles of liquid poly cement with the little brushes, I really loved that stuff.
As for superglue I just use any old junk. 8 for £1 from any nearby shop, does the job. I've yet to notice any difference between different brands of superglue.
