I think that this will be a fun conversion and a worthwhile project Especially for people who say "it's not fluffy, or it's too costly" as long as we are all having fun, and if fluff could be made to support that fun what is the problem??? Who are you to judge a person's creativity and means of entertainment in a GAME?? I think it's somewhat humiliating for people to mock others of being imaginative and logical. If you children just want to stick to the original codex and story of GK, IG or whatever, it's fine; don't drag other people down to your level with your illogical whines and complaints.... If IG wants to have thunderhawks, droppots or w/e, let them as long as they have a reasonable point-cost and maybe some story behind it. You are not GW or the author behind all the fluff.... Also, GK are supposed to have the best equipments: they have stormravens, ven dreads, dreadknights and etc. WHO are you to say they don't have a titan or a baneblade in their secret armory??? I do hope that these childish ranting would stop and answer the actual OP.
btw I do agree with Blacksails, fortitude and psybolts would be quite advantageous for a baneblade haha. I'd also recommend psyflame ammos as well, and maybe just make it 800pt or so. If this is finalised haha i might get into making a GK bandblade myself

I don't know why people complain about GK so much... It's just a game, and nobody complains about Mephiston... So why complain about Draigo?

clearly i'm not looking for an english lesson and am not trying to make a post grammar-perfect if you want to see a grammar-perfect piece of awesome literature, go read a ph.d report or something and don't complain on dakka about grammar.
Also, the OP also said that this was for a apocalypse game If this baneblade has right amount of points cost, i don't see how it would be OP, as OP is usually based on the fact that the unit is more powerful than it's point-cost. If he only fields this plus maybe a squad of termies on his apocalypse table, it is none of our business; it is the opponents. Che-Vito, you are exactly the type of person i criticize for lack of creativity and ability to enjoy change. If you want to stick to the GW basics and have fun, that is none of our business, but it is none of your business to deny other people's aesthetic or creativity. Plus i don't think you are the righteous person to create a rule for a dakka forum.
"*Don't make up overpowered rules, and then a model. Make a cool model first, then give it some rules*
People get shot down in Proposed Rules, exactly BECAUSE they can't follow the idea above. The OP even went as far to say, "Grey Knights are supposed to be overpowered." Which is pretty much a /endthread moment. Grey Knights are supposed to be balanced with other armies for the current edition, end of story."
exactly why he is posting on Dakka to chop the OP parts down and up the point-cost. I would suggest stop trying to sound like you own GW, or that you are master of Warhammer 40k; it just serves to make you sound like a snob and it would pain me to see your "reasonable," "dislikes of anything new and shoot down any ideas that i find unaesthetic." It is quite unsightly.

Why not? By signing up, you agreed to the forum rules, one of which was this:

Please remember that posting and reading online is a visual format and as such the spelling, grammar and look of your posts is the only way others understand what you are saying. Therefore, in order to be polite, all users are expected to make an effort to use proper spelling, grammar and punctuation and should refrain from using internet shorthand or other distracting methods of writing, such as writing a post completely bolded, with capital letters, in a strange color, etc.

If you want to post, follow the rules: http://www.dakkadakka.com/core/forum_rules.jsp

As for the topic itself, fluff-wise, it isn't a great idea for the myriad reasons already listed. If you're fine with throwing the fluff out of the window, however, then 700-800pts with the option for GK vehicle upgrades would be fine by me.

Emoticons are not accepted ends to a sentence. This 'effort' you speak of is clearly not a good one.

*"make an effort to",

Obviously my "illogical" and "false" "accusation" has a large degree of truth to it after all, don't you agree?

I've been thinking of doing up a GK Baneblade myself. Inquisitors can take control of whatever Imperial forces they wish, so I think it's ok fluffwise.

That's fine, if it's just a guard baneblade repainted.

what the problem is with is why grey knights are crewing a baneblade, if they even can.

Didn't Marines have a superheavy tank called a FellBlade in the fluff? Or am i making that up? I'm not sure.

If so then get a BaneBlade, paint it up as GK and call it a GK FellBlade.

They did when they were Legions, but the last loyalist one was destroyed in the Horus Heresy and all the traitor ones have been tracked down and destroyed since then or were dragged deep into the Eye of Terror and irreversibly corrupted.

For the same reason IG no longer get Land Raiders, so too do the Space Marines not get superheavies.

The problem isn't a Baneblade working with GK. It's a baneblade with GK crew and rules.

I know. My thinking was that if it was FellBlade it would be manned by GK and have GK weapons etc.

obviously at a higher points cost.

This sounds perfectly fine. I feel that around 200-250pts would be perfect.

You're not making up anything, but BoLS did. The Fellblade pretty much exists only from piece of CCG (yes 40k at one point had a CCG based during the Horus Heresy) art which shows a Superheavy in Sons of Horus colors called a Fellblade with a decidedly non-astartes looking commander, when Imperial Army units wore Legion markings. BoLS basically took it from there and declared it to be the Space Marine Baneblade and it spread from there.

nectarprime wrote:I've been thinking of doing up a GK Baneblade myself. Inquisitors can take control of whatever Imperial forces they wish, so I think it's ok fluffwise.
Then it would be an Inquisiton commanded baneblade crewed by guardsmen requisitioned by an Inquisitor, not a GK baneblade.

Ah, so my Iron Warrior crewed ShadowSword isn't just "tweaked", it is in fact completely made up. Doh. I quite liked the thought if Marines having a "proper" superheavy.

Traitor Legions are a bit different. First, GW has actually showcased Chaos Baneblades and variants (one appears in the Apoc rulebook as a Nurgle machine and GW extensively showed off an Iron Warriors baneblade for the Apoc WD's and Games Days in 2007/early 2008). Second, the Legions never got split from their Imperial Army units like the loyalist Legions were, they took their mortal troops so they'd still have them hanging around under their control, and aren't limited by the Codex and/or other Imperial restrictions the way Loyalist chapters are, and fight much different battles with much different equipment/landers/etc than loyalist marines.

That said, fitting a Chaos Marine inside still doesn't make a whole lot of sense.

Well i couldn't fit a marine model in it but when i say IW crewed my friends i agreed that, as it is a Chaos Marines tank, it can have BS4, presumably because IW are running things. I think we agreed on an extra 40 points for the extra BS.

Will have to change that.

Just to clarify with the OP. Did you mean just having a standard Baneblade in your Gk army? Or did you mean a properly kitted out GK BaneBlade with Incinerators and Psy-Cannons and all the other GK gubbins they get?
