I really dont care if it looks cool or not. I saw a guy with a straw stuck down into the turret hole of a russ and 4 straws glued to that and they called it legal at semi's last year. Ill cut the barrels down but there really isnt a point considering the guns have a 72 inch range. The height doesnt really matter ether considering the forgeworld kit is really tall and it sits on a chimera hull which means it will always see over a chimera in front of it. The height of the hull means ill have more trouble getting cover so its an advantage to my opponent.

So basically... You don't care about any of our feedback.
In that case, contact your TO and show them what you plan on bringing. They are the ultimate authority anyways.

Considering The Rule of Cool is what most TO's go by, you should probably rethink your statement. I've used wooden dowels before of diferent sizes, sanded down and glued to replace autocannons. It takes some time and effort and it's part of the hobby side of the game. Modelling for Advantage can be construed as having 1.5" extra gun Heidgth. The better the model looks, the more likely they TO is to ignore things like this, however if it looks like someone slapped some plastic together and tossed some pens on them in 10 minutes ... well alot of TO's are old hobbyists.
I wouldn't let it slide in my gaming circle. If you want to convert stuff, you'll need to put some more effort into it than that.
Some Ideas, Foam works good, lightweight easy to cut. Downside is you can't spraypaint the stuff to prime it. I think the Pens will work out fine with a little bit of TLC making them less noticable.

It might be smart to reconsider that position.
I saw a guy with a straw stuck down into the turret hole of a russ and 4 straws glued to that and they called it legal at semi's last year.
Which doesn't have to work to your advantage.
Ill cut the barrels down but there really isnt a point considering the guns have a 72 inch range.
The main reason to cut down the barrels, would be that it would look better.
The height doesnt really matter ether considering the forgeworld kit is really tall
Not as much as you seem to think.
The height of the hull means ill have more trouble getting cover so its an advantage to my opponent
And you will have an easier time looking over said cover....its a wash, except that you will be able to be Obscured behind a stock Leman Russ and still fire ( a feat that the Forgeworld Hydra cannot easily pull of).
In the end contact the TO. As you seem to dislike the comments you are getting here, it would help you a lot more.

Fair enough, you're only concerned with legality. In that case I'll just stick with my statement that a TO (who may choose to use "rule of cool" or not) has about a 50% chance of approving this one.

If nothing else you've surpassed that very low bar.

I guess ill barrow some chimera hulls to set the turrets on so people there wont bitch. I just liked having separate models. Theyre half an inch higher than a normal chimera hull so the argument that it gives me an advantage isnt really valid. And someone said i should cut the guns down because it would give me a range advantage.

That's finished?
You've got open holes on the sides and unpainted parts from pulling off the sponsons.
Make the top turret a little more compact, and shorten the barrels just a little.
Then add just a bit of detail to the barrels and turret.
It'd take ~1 hour to turn your concept into a really nice model that nobody would question.
It's a good idea, and a good start, you just need a little more work.
For barrels, I'd get some plastic rod of 3 different dimensions. That will let you layer the barrels and add quite a bit of depth with very little work.

I'd say that just having a quad cannon assembly in the standard Leman Russ turret slot would be appropriate. It'll be about the same height (give or take an inch, inch and a half depending on how you elevate the barrels) and would look something like the old Ostwinds or Wirblewinds.
