With the exception of Fists, Thunder Hammers, etc.
Nope. Fists and Thunderhammers have a base strength of 2 times the wielder's strength since they are the weapons that are attacking the Monolith.
I never understood how hard it is to understand the Lith's abilities. Seems really cut and dry to me.

That// ss ok. We//'re us//ed to it// *Fzzzt*
Its not like Necrons have anything else that's all that awesome for a reasonable points value.
It takes skill and luck to win with Necrons, which is why i play them I suck at luck, so it's all on skill

Also, don't forget about Eldar wraithcannons, d-cannons and haywire grenades. They all work as well, as they completely bypass rolling for armor penetration and use their own rules.
5 wraithguard in a serpent love monoliths.

headrattle wrote:If you have a codex that doesn't say that, my only question is... where did you get it, and where have you been to not know these changes? Just curious.
Also I demand an apology from all of those who doubted me!
Where did I get the Codex? Why from my Friendly Local Game store.
As I said several times, there was a stealth reprint, GW did not advertise that there was a reprint, there is not even anything to indicate from the cover of the books that there is any difference.
Also I absolutely will not apologize for doubting you. I had asked for the difference between the original print and the re-print; you gave none. You said to read the full description(after I had first stated I had only the original); but did not give the text; therefore the text I had to go on(and presumed had not changed since no one had given me the change) never mentions the only 1 dice for penetration(nor the unaugmented Str of the weapon bit).
You can demand an apology for doubts all you want, but maybe instead you can try demanding GW inform us of changes when they occur; of course you will get the same results as demanding the apology.

This is my Rulebook. There are many Like it, but this one is mine. Without me, my rulebook is useless. Without my rulebook, I am useless.

Andilus Greatsword wrote:Vindicare-Obsession wrote:I agree w/head rattle. Living metal causes about as much debate as the new GK codex from what counts as weapons to what augments strength. As I play (both against and as a necron player) nothing, not the vindicare assassin, not eldrad, not any farseer, not any monster, not any melta, lance, or other example you could possiably fathom that effects your results to breach the armor (except dice roll modifyers such as pask) will ever take effect on the monolith. It was created prior to the rules that are in the newer codecies and as such has a few minor holes in it but the phrase i"In practice, any weapon attacking the monolith will roll for armor penetration using its base strength and a single d6 no matter what" holds up to almost any argument one could make. RAI nothing works.
With the exception of Fists, Thunder Hammers, etc.
yes, thank you. I forgot they mentioned that in the FAQ. Let me amend my earlier statement, everything but the things mentioned int the FAQ dont work.

Pretre: Are repressors assault vehicles? If they are, I'm gonna need emergency pants.
n0t_u: No, but six can shoot out of it. Other than that it's a Rhino with a Heavy Flamer thrown on if I remember correctly.
Pretre: Thanks! I guess my pants are safe and clean after all.

...except the FAQ isnt needed to make p/fists (etc) work, as they do hit at their unaugmented strength - double the strength of the user.

If you really want to be TFG:
From Rulebook FAQ 1.4
Q: When two special rules or effects contradict each
other how is this resolved? (p2)
A: Roll off using ‘The Most Important Rule!’.
Not that I'm advocating doing this, but technically, pretty much any rule that add dice to armor pen would contradict Living Metal, so would call for a roll off.

No, it really doesnt contradict living metal. The more specific rule takes precedence, which is living metal.
