The krak are really just insurance.. The overload of meltaguns and missile/autocannons on the field should make short work of a dread anyway.

You failed leadership when fighting the marines?? Did you have the commissar there? Did you shoot a sgt? Did you have a CCS still alive to use 'get back in the fight!' on them?

No offense, but why in the blue feth are you giving tactics advice?

People ask questions here because they want to learn how to play well, not because they want to poorly simulate actual combat.

Ouch, the flame it burns. I gave my opinion insofar as I disagreed and provided my counter. We all have different playing styles and I respect this one even if I don't like it. Please be more civil next time though, I don't see the need for rudeness when I only provided my opinion. Cheers

Commissar was present and I shot a sgt, just bad rolling on my part :( They got back into the fight on my next turn.

Okay, fair enough piz. Good try anyway.

Darkstar, sorry that you were offended by the responses to you, i still thank you for your input though. Realistic formations or approaches to playing 40k can still work for the most part.

Question -

A unit with stubborn, they pass morale and pinning tests automatically right? Does that mean I would have actually passed that test if I lost combat? Because if I'm reading it right, I've been fething up lol

Stubborn only means that you do not take penalties for losing men in close combat. So if your blob lost 10 men to a crazy assault marine's charge, you still do your LD check at the end as LD9 (for the commissar) , and not like LD2 (it cannot go below 2) or whatever the final difference in combat was.

Fearless however, causes you to pass/not need to take moral or pinning checks. However, in close combat, if you lose combat and auto-pass from fearless, the difference you lost by actually because wounds caused as if 'no retreat!' occured. So if you lost by 7, you take 7 automatic wounds, and must do armour saves or another 7 men die! That is the only downfall of "For the honour of Cadia!" order by Creed, it makes your blob, if that's what you are using it on - fearless which is a double edged sword. This situation occurs with Ork blobs as well, when they have over 12 models and gain the Mob rule

OP if you are still tweaking your 1000pt force here is one that may give you some food for thought.

Is a take on all comers list that I have been using and (hopefully) improving over the last couple of years.

HQCCS, Lascannon, 2x Plasmagun and a Master of the Ordnance.
Troop 1 – PCS, 4x Meltagun in a Chimera.
PIS, Power weapon, Commissar with power weapon, Autocannon, meltagun.
PIS, Power weapon, Autocannon, meltagun.
Troop 2 – PCS, 4x Flamer.
PIS, Power weapon, Commissar with power weapon, meltagun.
PIS, Power weapon, meltagun.
Fast Attack 1 – Scout Sentinal with Autocannon
Fast Attack 2 – Scout Sentinal with Autocannon
Heavy Support 1 – Leman Russ, hull Heavy Bolter.
Heavy Support 2 – Griffon, hull Heavy Bolter.

The gist of the force is to have one blob back with autocannons with the CCS with the other clearing objectives. Although many will point out that the ACs do not "synergise" with the other equipment it does have flexibility for tournament play.

PCS to assist and deal with particular types of enemy; although I an considering replacing flamers which I don't rate, certainly not against marines).

LR to advance/make a nuisance of itself. Griffon just because it is awesome in low point games

Sentinels to flank shot transports/tanks and generally add some dynamism to the force.

Obviously since you know you are facing Smurfs you can refine it to the end.

Well, i frst formed this technique on an objectves match. It was against my friend on objectives against SW. I was almost on a 2-1 last turn victory with this tactic but i had formed a single man line because it was only a 20-man squad and half of it was stretched at the other side holding one and the others just got in range of the second. his turn came up and guess who! Njal moved 6" directly in front of my line and cast jotww. went through seven, killed 5 and t remaned a 1-1 draw...

I bet ts gong to be cool on other armies where it could have worked brllantly, but oh well. My stupdity

one mistake piz, IIRC you could have used "get back in the fight!" to get your blobs to rally.
