In the fozen hell hole that was michigan

thanks for all the great advice! I have done some more experimenting with what i currently own list wise:

HQ: Eldrad 210

Autarch w/ scorpion chainsword, mandiblasters, fusion gun, and warp spider jump pack

120pts

Troops: Dire avengers squad: 8 + exarch w/ twin cats, blade storm and a waveserpent w/ twin missle launchers and spirit stones and vectored engines
290pts

dire avengers 8 + exarch w/ twin cats, blade storm and a waveserpent w/ twin missle launchers and spirit stone and vectored engines
290pts

pathfinders 5 w/ the upgrade (i know there are mixed feelings over them but I like the model and the fluff so im keeping them)
120pts

storm guardians, 10 w/ 2 falmers warlock w/ destructor and singing spear
130pts

Fast attack: Vyper squadron 1 w/ missle launcher and spirit stones
65pts

heavy support: dark reapers 4, w/ exarch w/ tempest launcher and fast shot
227pt

wraithlord w/ bright lance and missle launcher
155pts

war walker squadron 2, twin-linked scatter lasers, spirit stones
130pts

grand total of 1747pts

Keep in mind this is just what made of what i own i do plan definitely expanding the force and replace some of the units

-fire dragons definitely
-another war walker
-possibly a falcon, tempted to run eldrad with the seer council and have him in there
-a melee unit of sorts, not banshees but harlys have some cool rules and i hear scorpions can be nasty
-possibly guardian jet bikes, they look awesome stat wise and they seem useful but like all bikes, GW sells them for 15 bucks a bike (maybe the i can find some on the internet for cheap)

as always any advice you can give would be awesome

armies: demons
various batches of power armor

Fire dragons are always useful, even in footdar, its a nice cheap fire magnet and if it actually gets to fire it will put out some hurt.
3rd WW is a great addition to bring your squadron up to full potential, especially guided into a doomed unit.

For the falcon holo field and stones are a must and decide on its role. If you will be running eldrad in it I'd keep the council seperate as they are good in vehicle assaults, Eldrad best for phychic support role. The warlocks don't need to be his bodyguard and can run around in their own unit under the codex rules . If they'll be in a transport some people will advocate a WS over the falcon as a delivery system.

Melee unit, again theres personal preference involved.
For footslogging across the table harlequins and a shadowseer are a great choice. Fusion pistols add some armour busting power, and can be decked out for rending.

Scorpions are a nice unit boasting str 4 attacks and a 3+ save and can be upgraded to infiltrate/outflank. The exarch also has access to a power claw and the biting blade both decent weapons. Their biggest downside is no fleet of foot.

Banshees are the lightly armoured fleeting all power weapon unit, decent exarch weapons. Only drawbacks are the save being lower than scorpions and the exarch powers not being as great as they could be but their cost is negligable anyway. These are the unit of choice vs MEQ.

Jetbikes I like, they are scoring, up the statline a little, fast and manouverable. Popular in many eldar lists and I usually run 6 of them. If nothing else they always become fire magnets when I use them for some reason .

Perhaps try units out with proxys if its possible and see which you like best to start with.

A few observations on Hybrid Eldar-

1) EML/DAVU Falcons are a viable replacement for WLs; They provide similar long range firepower, they are VERY durable with Holo, and they can perform late-game objective grabs. Pricy points wise, but you get good value for your purchase.

2) Pathfinders are viable in footdar, but their static nature is problematic in hybrid. Still do-able, but not easy.

3) A small unit of Warlocks detached from Eldrad can drive people batty: 3 on Jetbikes recieve Fortune on turn 1, then TB up the field behind terrain. JSJ allows up to a 30" total move. Position for move and charge turn 2 against something valuable with an AV. Watch as your opponent stops everything to kill them, then laugh as they soak up (on average) 27 wounding hits before going down. Making your opponent lose a full turn of shooting is well worth 145 points.

4) Eldrad in a Serpent is great, but he works just as well trucking along on foot. It's similar in principle to #2; If a unit is both dangerous and durable it will cause target priority issues for your opponent. I love to stick him in a Fire Dragon unit with a Harlequin screen; with mobile cover and fortune they are just as insanely durable as a seer council and 10 Meltaguns are dangerous enough that your opponent is left with two bad options: Avoid the unit entirely or dedicate excessive firepower to its destruction. Either option is something you can use against him.

5) Without the Avatar LD is a serious issue. Avoid guardians if possible, and consider bolstering Harlies by putting your Autarch in with them. If they need to ignore terrain to get a charge off he can detach.

I am a grammar Nazi only because grammar democracy is ineffective.
