Nice progress, Silver! I can't believe I'm the first person to post in here this month (meaning March, but I guess I missed it by a day after all...). For shame, Dakka. For shame.

The assembly is looking really great. I'm not so sure about the test scheme. The yellow seemed a little better on your WaAagh Dakka model (the inspiration for this project, or vice versa??). I hear that's the hardest color to paint, hence my avoiding it thus far .

Looking forward to seeing more!

Yeah, I'm still working on the yellow - it is a pain in the butt to paint (the WaAagh Dakka model was inspired by this ) - I had to change how I was doing it from the WaAagh Dakka model because I could not face masking so many marines - thought I could get away with zenthil undercoating and washing with yellow.

I think I will try washing with some different shades of yellow - the top wash I am using at the moment is a bit too brown.

I've got some orange wash which I think I will apply as a base, then work up from there to yellow to give it a bit more depth.

Ok, decided that I would try and paint up a chapter banner to be carried into glorious battle by the Honour Guard, so here is my first prototype banner:

Now, I have converted it into a digital image, I have been able to play with it to create the reverse side:

Im going to paint over the design in the above colours, and then sandwich the two designs around a thin core of GS so that I can mould it into the right shape to swirl gracefully around the banner carrier

Also means that the glue will not soak through and ruin the paint, which has happened before

SilverMK2 wrote:Ok, after a long pause, I have started back on a little bit of true-scaling - generally adding arms, shoulder pads and things to the marines I have already made up, and also starting on some portal marines:

Still very much at an early stage - got to add in the rest of the marine before sculpting in ripples, grasping tendrils of the warp, claws of daemons, etc.

Also, to keep myself entertained, I have scrapped together some servo skulls - to reflect the relatively high tech nature of my marines (heavy bolter, autocannon, book holder (for the librarian), and banner skull):

Why not use the book skull for a chaplain

4000pts Pre-heresy Iron Warriors
2000pts Pre-heresy Thousand Sons
2000pts Pre-heresy Raven Guard
2000pts Pre-heresy Night Lords
1500pts Ultramarines

Because I don't have a (proper) Chaplain in my army

Well, I had to clear all my stuff away a while go but have managed to sneak them back out again

Continued to fill in the legs (by far the most boring part of the entire process) and clearing up mould lines (still more to go ) and am still trying to decide how I am going to actually paint these up. Seriously considering changing the scheme as it is driving me mad

So, I stripped and re-primed all these guys over the last week or so and have just started re-painting:
