Suffolk, where the Aliens roam.

Saw A New Hope last night, sound was awesome, everything much crisper in HD, Han/Greedo still annoys me, but thats the annoying thing. Everything else he did with Special edition I was fine with.

X-wing update awesome, arrival at Mos Eisley, a little silly, but not that bad, Han running into a whole legion of Stormtroopers, more fitting than just finding the three he was chasing turned around. Jabba at the millenium Falcon, was okay.

But Greedo, why oh why, its like Lucas forgot his own character somewhere in the mid nineties and thought it was too un PC. Like Spielberg and the walkie talkies in E.T. Han makes so much more sense gunning Greedo down in cold blood.

The only thing that bugged me is the new Kyrat Dragon howl addition in this bluray. I am seriously thinking that was George doing the howl as a joke. Where as before it sounded unhuman, you could make out the guy doing a Wooo noise. Sounded awful.

Really worried for the Vader/Palpatine scene now.

That's a nice run-down, MDS, would you be kind enough to do the same for the others as you watch them?

It really is a case of 'less is more'.

But just as long as Lucas doesn't feth around with Dath Mauls lightsabre then im really not fussed. No disagreement that Ep 1 was was the dogs breakfast of movies but when Maul pops the second sabre when fighting Obi Wan and Qui-Gon eyes bogged out and jaws hit floors from awesomeness. Easily the best bit in Ep 1 imo.

Ep1 was much better than attack of clones. I mean, that movie was just...

Ep1 at least had the pod race and of course the epic Darth Maul duel. That guy with the horns and dual lightsabre...

I like to imagine the Emperor kills so many Orks that he ends up half buried beneath a pile of corpses, with only his head sticking out. A lone grot stumbles across him, and starts choking him.

Then Horus comes across the lone grot, somehow managing to kill the Emperor, and punts it into space.

Tbh the main reason I can deal with anything else that is poor in the prequels, is Ian McDiarmid.

Seeing him potray the same character from the original films, the rise to power, and the plot he's running from the moment the Phantom Menace opens makes the trilogy for me.

There are also some very nice lightsaber duels, the Pod Race (Yay, Aurra!!) and other moments that make them fun to watch, but I can forgive Jar Jar, and various other annoying bits like the whole R2 D2 presentation cermony in phantom, and the idea that C3P0 was created by Anakin etc, thanks to Ian McDiarmid and his performance.

@htj, aye, no worries, will be watching Empire and Return this weekend, so watch this space.

Personally, I could have done without the droids in the prequels at all. It just felt too... contrived. Plus, all of the dialogue for Anakin in TPM should have been re-written. "Yippee?" Seriously? But despite all that, and the annoyances you mentioned, I still like the film. It could have been a lot better, but it'll do. The one thing I can't stand is making the force into a blood born virus type thing. I liked it better when it was space magic.

Sweet, looking forward to it.
