I'd just like to see something like the little plastic dragons on stands, like the one in DF. One could represent a unit of 3-4.

That would really put the Dragon Lords over the top, for me at least.

These are digital resculpts. The stats and functions of the models, but they have been resculpted with digital technology (rather than by hand out of putty and plasticard like the original sculpts) so that they have more detail and are an improvement in quality. The old ships have in no way lost their validity. It is like GW do when they revise sculpts so that this:

Unfortunately I'm not a studio quality painter so the extra detail won't make much difference to me, I'll stick with my original Dwarf and Elf fleets and my first edition rules... (on a Dread Fleet gaming mat )

@ Talon - they do make two different dragons on stands. The ones that GW prduced for DF look very similar to the ones that Spartan already has. The dragons that the carrier is for are much smaller. Thus the counter to prepresent the flock of little dragons.

However... if you really want the big dragon, the Dragon Lords has a nice elder dragon that you can buy who wields the mast from a ship in one hand.

So I went to investigate further upon your information, and now that I had some spare time to do so...

Found these - http://spartangames.co.uk/shop/index.php?route=product/product&path=35_37&product_id=205

Specifically says intended as an upgrade from the tokens.

Nice!

I hope the fixed the rails on the new Dragon Lords ships. The old ones had such a poor connection point to the ship that it was hard to find a ship without at least some of them broken off.

Right. You can see the irregularities in the surface of the plastic, and it's less precisely engineered than the CAD kits.

Some of those Uncharted Seas models look quite nice. They are all rather similar though. And it seems to be a different type of ship game to Dread Fleet, so there's not really much point in comparing them.

So would the Dreadfleet felt mat work well with Uncharted Seas?

I couldn't quite get a firm answer from the posts.

It should, yes. I don't believe Uncharted Seas has a hard-and-fast rule for table size.

The standard 6'x4' that you use for Warhammer works well for Uncharted Seas as well. The mat from Dreadfleet is a bit smaller than that, so it might get tight, but not Too bad.

Uncharted seas is usually played on a 4x4 mat but the layout of the rules and the emphasis on fun easy play would mean that play on any size mat would be ok.

I've never found 4x4 to be big enough. A couple of the races rely on long range combat and squeezing onto that size of table really cuts down on the maneuverability and such to me.
