It's a unit that can take a heavy flamer, a flamer, a combi-flamer, have a transport with a twin-linked heavy flamer. ^_^

And they look DAMNED good while they're roasting heretics and enemies of the God-Emperor. : D

This. The advantags of SM's and CSM's, with more options (that are all cheaper as well). I have no idea what Phil was thinking when designing this unit (or Long Fangs for that matter...)

IG veterans are good, but pretty much only when used in one of two ways, either in a chimera with 3 PGs/Meltas or in a valk/vend with 3 PGs/meltas. With different weapons they're useable but not great, while the Doctrines are overpriced and if footslogging they're just too easily destroyed to be useful.

A bit unorthadox but Eldar Jetbikes make for very good troops.

They cost relatively few points when taken in small squads (129 for 3 with a cannon and an embolden warlock with a spear), have incredible mobility, and acceptable anti infantry and anti vehicle armaments.

24 inch turbo boosts and re roll able leadership make them very good at what troops are supposed to do. Stay out of trouble and capture objectives.

As always it's a toss up between Grey Hunters and Shootaboys.

As has been said, GH get everything a SM gets, but cheaper.
Shootaboys, 6pts for a potentially fearless t4 S4 model with 2 attacks and what is essentially an Dire Avenger Shuriken Catapult.
Granted, on his own he's not up to much, but the other 29 in his unit want to have a word....

On a point per point basis, you can't argue with his value.

thought they are only str 3, its only 4 on the charge, though they also get an extra attack on the charge so thats 3 str 4 attacks at WS4 assuming a 30 boyz mob w/ nob and pk thats 87 str 4 attacks and 4 str 9 power klaw attacks. not a bad way to spend 220 points

Plague Marines. Can bring an assortment of weapons, excel in close combat and shooting, and they get a 3+ save with FNP. If you arnt looking at point cost , these guys are pretty mean.

It would seem every army has a very good troops choice.

No price considered, GK Terminators since they don't require a SC to unlock.

Firewarriors are terrible, a tax that must be paid by every Tau player. BS3 sucks.

And those marker lights seem to NEVER hit my squads. Either i'm really lucky or my opponent is unlucky.

Genestealers, high WS, high I, outflankable, rending and can be up to 20 of them.

Basicly an inperial guard platoon

1 pcs
5x10 squads
5x3 hwt
2x6 sws
1x up to 50 conscripts

as well as a ton of options and lots of commasars
