It's clear you can ambush an IC along with Snikrot per the ORK FAQ.
I wouldn't call it cheesy, either.
If you want to feed your opponent a large portion of your army, points-wise, which will likely be unsupported by the rest of your forces, in exchange for a back-line tank or squad of longfangs, I don't think he'll complain. If he offers up more than that, he's only got himself to blame.

GiantKiller: beating dead horses since 2006. |

This.
You can always use the 'Ambush' special rule, but the tactically astute on dakka (including many people who have written on this thread) will see that this will only work well very occasionally.
Remember, Ghaz will be stuck in a squad for a turn, coming on from a board edge (so unless a WAAAGH! is called, you have 12" Effective Assault Range), and most likely without a variety of targets.

I can definitely see the potential brutality of this, but at the same time you're eating up your whole HQ slot with this one maneuver, which means no big mek with a kustom force field, which means you're trading a solid cementing in your forward advance, as well as survivability, for a very nasty backdoor surprise.

Snikrot's an upgrade character to Kommandoes though.

It is perfectly valid but is about a 50/50 on whether or not your going to get your points back. The main advantage is you are effectively flanking your enemy who then has to divert his attention away from the 9 Kans and 150 boyz to a squad that is eating his artillery. It is extremely effective on any semi-stationary army. Anything that is mobile is better addressed by sticking Ghaz in a battlewagon.

Thanks dakkanauts.
This thread has cleared up all of my concerns about playing the Ghaz + Snikrot combo.
I believe out of my gaming group that consits of CSM (black legion and bezerkers), Eldar, BA and IG I believe that this will only work against the IG player.
Oh well back to converting that warboss on Bike.
