Gone-to-ground in the craters of Coventry

Don't forget that vehicles in 40k are roughly half-scale.
When using full-scale figures with half-scale vehicles, it gets messy.
There is no real reason why 2 Marines can't pop out of the round cupola-hatches.

If a gunner or navigator can stick out, why can't 2 Marines with guns?
Apart from the starboard (non-gunner) cupola being over the driver (right-hand drive)

Actually they arent half scale. 10 marines CAN fit inside a rhino, its been proven.
If youre bringing realism into it, the front two are part of the crew and not passenger compartment

Not quite. 10 marines without backpacks were fit into a slightly remodeled version of the old rhino. While there's enough floorspace in the current kit, the roof's too low by about an eigth of an inch. I've tried... it just doesn't work.

Definitely not half scale... it's only a fraction too small. But certainly a little smaller than it probably should be.

Is that with or without bases, and with the Space Marines standing or leaning/walking?

I mean, if we're going to talk about the realism of it all...

As for the OP, I think the post about Razorbacks clears things up fairly well.

It isn't designed for comfort, so they wouldn't be standing straight up. 10 would fit but it would be tight.

Without bases.

I had planned to build a cut-away rhino complete with crew and passengers as an Open entry for Auscon earlier this year. The plan had been for two marines sitting on the benches on either side, one standing in each side doorway, three crouched along the middle of the compartment, and the sergeant in the front with the driver.

I cut open the rhino and started converting the passengers, but dropped the project after finding out the hard way that the standing marines would have had to be doubled over to a ridiculous extent, and the sitting guys would have needed half of their heads and their backpacks removed to fit.

It's not a matter of 'built for comfort'... they just don't fit.
