Looks interesting, was it made in response to all the microbubbles on finecast I wonder?

You think it's a bad idea? Other companies sell the product and it's widely used. Of course GW is going to release their own. In terms of patching up models, it's more useful than normal green stuff.

Agreed. Liquid green stuff is a very usefull. Like it was used in the article it fills gaps for tanks, forgeworld models, and finecast

Considering that it was released at the same time as the other Finecast-fixing tools, that seems likely. Not that it's a bad thing or anything.

@-Loki-: I see your point. It just seems a little weird. How does it work?

Cheers for all the support guys. I'm thrilled with the response the article has got (especially the criticism).

@ Ogryn: I've included a basic how to use guide as a link on the first post of this thread. I hope you find it useful.

Liquid Green Stuff is pretty nice, I ordered it over a week ago and it arrived about 2 days ago and I've used it since to patch up various lines on my Ork Konversionz and my terrain projects, it's great for filling in seams on regular models and doesn't leave any residue if you're quick with your brush. I'm ordering the vallejo equivalent as well (along with a vallejo paint set) to compare the two later on,

They're the same thing. If you like liquid green stuff, you will like the Vallejo version.

Ok so I have an issue and maybe you guys can help...

I have bought 'Liquid' Green Stuff 3 times now and EVERY time the pot arrives, it seems to be solid. Is there anything I can do about this? Can I add water and mix it like paint or am I just screwed?

Answers appreciated in advance.

Thanks

1. Are you able to buy in store? That way you can pop it open and check it at the counter to replace if it's dead.
2. Once it's set, it's set. There's no bringing it back to life like paint, and even paint can be set to a point of no return.
3. Return it. If you are ordering it from GW direct, email them and explain that it's defective.
4. PM someone to send you a proper pot of it that they checked. Might cost a little more unless they are just doing you a favor.
5. Use Vallejo Plastic Putty http://www.thewarstore.com/product73563.html same stuff as LGS, only white instead of green. Been around for a while.

Thanks very much for the reply!

1) Sadly, I do not have any store closer than 1 hour away so usually that is not an option.
2) I was afraid you would say that, but I had to ask! I could seriously swear GW adds something to their paint to make it dry up. I have paints from around 20 years ago in the old Citadel bottles (pity I didn't have the foresight to buy more) as well as Polly S from when they were an independent shop and they still are perfect. Meanwhile I buy a pot of GW paint and it seems to have a shelf life measured in months. This is largely why I have switched to Vallejo's. I've resurrected some old GW paint that I thought was lost but alas, there are some that are simply too far gone as you mentioned.
3) I picked the one from GW up a whole ago and one from the Warstore. Probably too late to get anything for those, but the most recent one I got today via ebay so maybe there is some hope there.
4) Not a bad idea if I decide to give it another go. I generally don't like imposing on folks though.
5) Love Neal. Love the Warstore. Love flat shipping and no tax since I'm out of state Been buying for him for forever. Amusingly enoug, I just got some stuff from old Neal the other day including this http://www.thewarstore.com/product43295.html . Is that the same stuff as the kind in the bottle? I just haven't used it yet.

Thanks again for the help. It is definitely appreciated.

According to the Vallejo website, that tube is the same product as the one I linked, just in a tube with 3ml more.

I've briefly used the new liquid green stuff on a Battletech model and I kinda like it. Even though as you pointed out GW aren't the first ones to produce a liquid gap filler, I personally think this product should have gotten more attention than Finecast did.

Shame about the pot design though, that's what I hate most about it. But I guess that's the idea, they want it to dry out quickly so you have to go buy more of it more often.

Kinda looking forward to using it on my Dark Eldar warriors, those little gaps in the torso/shoulder pads don't look so hard to fix now.

I hate those gaps with a passion. I'm going to pick it up now. Perhaps it can be transfered from paint pot to a squeeze bottle though?

Keep it in the freezer/cool. Green stuff hardening is an exothermic reaction but all reactions require an activation energy to start.
If you really wanted to go crazy you could try to figure out a way to pressurize the bugger as well to help stop the solvents escaping. Possibly sticking it in a bottle and filling the bottle with air.

I bought a pot of this stuff the day it came out. about 6 months later and after only like 4 uses it was rock hard.

Compare to Vallejo's plastic putty: Had it for 4 years, works like new.

Of which one? I think I threw out the LGS pot. It was entirely set. The Vallejo Plastic Putty should be on thewarstore.com somewhere. I can post pics of how it looks and works though if that is what you mean.

Good review.

Personally I think the liquid green stuff is great for adding rust textures or scratches but because it is extremely hard to get a smooth finish it is not very good for a crack filler. Regular green stuff is much easier to use and because it can be sanded easily it is ideal for gap filling.

@Aetheran; I meant the dried Greenstuff, thought it would be interesting to see.

@ Lambsadlons; Good point. Mind if I add that into the review?
