After a weekend of playing with green stuff, I have written up an article on my experiences and research. The full article can be found here.

Check it out, let me know what you think and if you have any critiques, experiences or opinions I'd love to hear them.

Very interesting. From your review it seems very similar to Squadron Green which comes in a tube. I cant imagine using it from that aweful pot design.

Wow. Between GamesDay over the pond, and Gakfleet, I didn't even notice this stuff. Its not even mentioned in a "whats new article". Very cool stuff. I might have to try some, since I have been very scared to approach green stuff. If I like it, maybe I will get into the big boy stuff.

Very useful & informative article - thanks.

I was on the fence about this stuff, but I might just give it a go now - seems far easier than trying to get solid green stuff into small places.

Just out of curiosity, but after your experiments with it, do you think it would be possible to transfer it to a Vallejo style dropper bottle?

Didn't get past the fan boy complaint about criticism on the internet

Liquid Greenstuff may well be a wonderful product, but I cannot trust your opinions regarding it if you are potentially biased in favour of GW products before testing.

If you wish to do a review it needs to be as objective as possible imho

Cheers everyone. I've amended the article with criticism received and advice on other products out there.

@ Depraved; thanks man, squadron green has now been added to the list of alternatives.

@ Jayce the Ace: If you haven't already bought GW's Liquid Green Stuff, why not buy Vallejo's plastic putty? It's the same product, but already comes in an eye dropper tube. If you do already own it, I don't see any reason why you shouldn't be able to scoop out the Liquid Green Stuff and put it in an eye dropper. I wouldn't recommend it though as you are exposing more of the putty to the air while transferring it.

If you didn't make it past the first paragraph how do you know whether my article as a whole is biased or not?

I'd like to get some more feedback (from chibi and others) on whether you think that the article is biased to the point of corruption. I like the product, and I think it comes through in the review, but it still does not stop me recommending that you do not buy it considering the alternatives out there.

Cheers Dakka, you're giving me some excellent feedback.

Because you stated that:

Games Workshops latest range of hobby tools has courted quite a lot of controversy amongst the online community. Although such backlash seems to be the default response to any new product launched by GW

That phrase was totally unnecessary imho, especially the emphasised part.

If you had said something along the lines of, " There has been some online debate about the new GW hobby tools, so I have decided to see for myself if they are worthwhile or not..."

which may well be what you have actually thought and acted upon. But the dismissal of "default" criticism tends to be a standard fan reaction to any negative responses to GW, and suggests other than an objective view.

That's a fair criticism; i've laboured the introduction to the point of offense.

I've changed the intro and I hope that you'll give the article a read (even a quick skim).

Cheers Chibi.

@ Maximus: I'd love to say that was actual scale!

I will have to delay painting my old school Hive Tyrant and Carnifexes until I can get some of this stuff. There are some annoying cracks and crevasses that I can't get a modelling tool into to fill with green stuff, this may just be the "stuff" to use! Thanks for the review!

@LillLoser

Thanks for the response. I haven't got this stuff yet, but I was considering it over Vallejo as it's easier for me to get hold of (GW in York) as opposed to mail order. As for transferring to a dropper bottle - just a thought as I had some spare ones.

I've briefly used the new liquid green stuff on a Battletech model and I kinda like it. Even though as you pointed out GW aren't the first ones to produce a liquid gap filler, I personally think this product should have gotten more attention than Finecast did.

Shame about the pot design though, that's what I hate most about it. But I guess that's the idea, they want it to dry out quickly so you have to go buy more of it more often.

Kinda looking forward to using it on my Dark Eldar warriors, those little gaps in the torso/shoulder pads don't look so hard to fix now.

That's actually just a standard complaint about the typically biased garbage that GW haters spout about with terms like 'Gakfleet'. It's a call for objectivity and an honest introduction to his position, not ammunition for your troll-gun.

I heard of it, but I don't get all my GW information from the Internet.

It's definitely not a sculpting medium, as I joked with the Perry brothers over the weekend at Games Day - they won't be painting models from the floor-up or anything. They were actually not really familiar with it because they'd never used it themselves. It's clearly just for filling, smoothing and texturing, but it does that very well. It's also non-toxic, which is great compared to the age-old epoxy medium we all love (not to mention rub vigoriously between our fingers).

Good review, I felt it was pretty neutral pointing out the pros and cons. I might give this a whirl at some point, if I do I'll try and remember to post up thoughts. But I enjoyed the article, no bias which I like.

actually , i dont see what the problem is with the article . the simple fact of the matter is that there is a HUGE number of people that roll their eyes when ever GW releases something or is mentioned in conversation . after 20 years of burning bridges , the number of people who hate GW far out weighs its fans .

when ever some one finds reason to complain about GW , there is never a shortage of people to jump on the pile and chime in to agree .

if ANY other company had released this produst to this community , it would get a much nicer reception than GW's , and your own use of the "fan boy" lable only proves the rule .

i my self dont like GW , and havent "played" WH40K since 3rd ed came out when andy chambers ruined it , but even as much as i dislike GW , i can look at what they have done ,and where they are objectively when i look at what other companies do right , and wrong . i dont have to like GW to be able to say they do X , Y , Z right compared to another company .

i like the artile , and look forward to trying the liquid green stuff , not because of a glowing review , but because the article was informative , and as some one who does alot of modeling , i am interested in trying this new product .

I actually just bought some today.
Haven't used it yet but plan on it with my Finecast Butcher.
It was a "hey its only $3, why not?" purchase.
I had used Squadron Greens "Green Putty" before but could not stand the smell.Yeah it is a bit cheaper then GW but for as much as I would use this stuff the $3 wasnt a bad price (plus I didnt have that lovely toxic smell of Squadron).
Overall, good review my friend.

IDK how much this will be in AU dollars(probably something stupid, since we always get screwed over) but after reading your post lil im buying it.

I struggle so badly with green stuff to fill little holes and gap lines etc that i gave up doing it and have mould lines all over some models. Using a paintbrush to apply, is excellent for some of us. Its just another way to get a equal result for somethings you could do with green stuff.

That guy posting about your article is a jerk. Do not listen to him. You wrote very well. You covered everything i wanted to know about and answered all the questions i had about it.

It costs 6 bucks, I used it on a metal typhus and I have to say it is the best investment of 6 bucks ever.

I can't see why they didn't release this stuff years ago! The pot, like all the other new ones, is a little annoying, but the second i heard about this, i thought it was brilliant. My modelling skills are, in all honesty, abysmal, and i've been having trouble smoothing out my 'Nid Primes bonesword, and this stuff made it way easier.

I tried it but i still find Vallejo's plastic putty easier to use because of the dropper, and it seems pretty much the same stuff but cheaper.

Thanks for the review. Nice to know the material's properties, and that there are options. To be perfectly honest, I didn't detect any pro-GW bias, especially during the "here are some other products which I think are better" section.
