The thing about Mephiston is that he is easy to kill, if you have a specialised unit in your list designed to kill him, otherwise he pretty much eats your brains. Also a smart BA player would have enough distractions in the form of Razorbacks, assault troops, Furiosos etc to distract the player from shooting at Mephiston early (Mephiston in a very good mech list is hard to deal with).

With a plasma rapid fire squad, if your squad doesn’t take him out during the rapid fire turn, they can pretty much be considering dead during the subsequent assault phase. Personally I reckon the IG method of “killing everything at long distance” is the best way to deal with him.

Personally I reckon Mephiston is a good example of bad rules design as giving something a prominent weakness such as a lack of an invulnerable save or the IC rule is not an intelligent way to balance a super saiyan profile.

I should also mention, both types of shooting are Pinning, so even if you miss with one, you can keep him locked down pretty well.

Pretty positive he's fearless. They're also templates that scatter, and realistically will only hit 1/3 of the time.

Then how would you balance him out? He has a designed weakness, which is a good thing for game balance. He's more expensive than a land raider, which is fair for his abilities.

huh.. This post went in bit different direction than expected. I kinda thought people would find it as amusing as I did. BA player saying that Tigurius is as effective as Mephiston and that BA player has the disadvantage of Mephiston costing more.
Guess I was wrong :(

I think you have perhaps mistaken Tiggy for Illyan Nastasi.

MeFABIO is also NOT an independent character (tiggy is).
Tiggy can be hidden in a squad and can use them as ablative wounds (as mephy isn't an IC, Tiggy does NOT specifically have to move into B2b first UNLESS he is closest model).

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.

Tiggy can also be squigged, though he has a fair chance of blocking it

Mephy can't, more's the pity ...

It doesn't work on Mephy? No wonder he's called overpowered. I WANT MEPHISQUIG.

Tigurius does have some advantages that Mephiston does not, but in a straight up fight yes Mephiston will win 9 times out of 10.

Also, to whoever was talking about the Blastmaster: the AP3 means nothing since Mephiston has a 2+ save.
