So, I was visiting my local store that sells GW stuff and there was a game going on. Ultra Marines versus Blood Angels. Both players were around 15 or so... And the argument started when BA player killed Ultra Marine terminator squad with Mephiston and after that a Landraider was torn to pieces also by Mephiston. Ultra Marines player complaining about Mephiston being overpowered as such.. which isn't anything new. But what made me laugh was when BA player was saying stuff like "Your codex has as good special librarian as BA have. Mephiston is even 20 points more expensive! you have no reason to complain"

haha. to bad the ultramarine player doesn't just get some good old fashion plasma! Mephiston? RAPID FIRE 8 PLASMA SHOTS!


Blood Angels are sad.

Sternguard would make short work of Mephiston. But it is annoying running into something that is as OP as Mephiston is, you expect that in something like a Hive Tyrant, not some Vamp geek

I do what I always do in this scenario.

Either punch it with Ghazzy or throw my SotB Wolf Lord at him.

The SM player should invest in assault termies instead of tactical termies. Assault Termies makes Mephy go splat

The idea is, you hood Memphy's power's, then do the init 10 thing, then force weapon Memphy in the face.

This is somewhat unlikely though, as it relies on you fully hooding Memphy and not being hooded in return...

Nope. He has no EW or invulnerable save, which is why I scoff when people say he's overpowered. Hard to deal with? Yes. Expensive? Yes. Overpowered? Nope. Assault Terminators will rip him a new one, but there's not much that TH/SS Terminators CAN'T deal with.

If the Assault Terminators get to attack, they will do some damage to him.

but used correctly, Assault Terminators with TH/SS wont get close to Meph.

48" range, Heavy, and AP 3. Mephy doesn't have Terminator armor, or any kind of invul save. And, if he's max distance away, it'll take some time to reach him, meaning multiple turns of Blastmaster fire, not including other units taking him out. Also, I should mention the Blastmaster can do 36" Str 5 Ap 4 Assault 2 shots as well.

So if you have 3 squads of noise marines, you can nuke him 3 times a turn then...nice.

I should also mention, both types of shooting are Pinning, so even if you miss with one, you can keep him locked down pretty well.

Loss After I killed one command squad, he pulled back and bombarded the building my poor marine was in from orbit. It's still an awesome game moment.

Um...Eldar Firedragons with a Farseer. Use psychic abilities at start of turn, hope for at least one, fly in, shoot, watch Mephy die. He isn't THAT hard to kill. Sternguard, Chaos Chosen, any Librarian/psyker, GREY KNIGHTS!!, TH/SS termies...yeah, he goes down like a brick. He isn't THAT hard to kill. Sheesh.

At least he took down a whole killpoint with him before he died.

Mephiston does not have Terminator armour, but he does have Artificer armour, so he has 2+ armour save.

3 squads of noise marines are pretty expensive, but can pour out the dakka (or 40k techno) if given the chance
