Hallowed Canoness

Sarah Phim wrote:OMG. In my mind this is without a doubt the worst bit of garbage in the whole thing. Today's canoness = last month's Sister Superior. Not veteran, regular Sister Superior. A veteran Sister Superior in C:WH had more options than a canoness does now. And i was so proud of my canoness model and her command stand.
Aye, "worst bit" sums it up for me, too. I have more to criticize (Initiative drop on Seraphim for example), but the Canoness nerf is the most irritating update so far, simply because the leader makes up so much of an army's style. If some unit sucks I can replace it with another from the same faction, no biggie, it'd still feel fitting. But almost being forced to sacrifice the one proper leader of every Sororitas Order in favour of some Ecclesiarchal grandpa (as cool as "Shotgun Priest" Uriah admittedly is) or a Special Snowflake Angel (which I'd personally only feel comfortable using in bigger games or at least from time to time - I love the design, but the fluff should make her appearance a more special occasion) if you want to win? That's bollocks. And it feels even worse when you notice where our Blessed Weapon went.
I guess we can only hope that, in a few years, we'll get a proper book that better resembles the Orders Militant of old. Until then, I'll just have to suck it - I've always been a follower of the "style over substance" approach, and fielding an army that I'm proud of in terms of looks and fluff would still make me feel better than one that is completely geared for victory on the table.
They can take the Blessed Weapon, but they can't take our good looks!

Options, options options. I need more options. This is what I hate the most. The lack of options for the canoness just sets the stage for the rest of the codex. I still argue in favor of the new rules more often than not (there is plenty of stuff broken with out having to invent more) but there is no amount of spin you could put on this. The best you can do is make your own order with a jump pack Canoness that uses the Saint Celestine rules.
I want bikes, and preditors and speeders and ... more; just more. I think I could do a better job in a week. ;.;
In fact, I think I will.
See you next Monday.

I'd also like to point out that the canoness is NOT dirt cheap, her body cost is huge when compared to Jacobus or Celestine

The lack of war gear is significant when you think of all the stuff that is in the other codexes.

When they published the new codex in white dwarf the y had the battle report vs nids with the codex author controlling the SoB and he took an invalid army! The numpty took 4 special weapons in a 5 woman dominion squad (fast attack) when the codex HE WROTE says they can only take 2 for 5 models. If you are going to show the world what your new codex is like at least take a legal army list!

@monkeypuzzle: The reports are often written months before the codex is finished. He was probably using a list based off a previous draft of the codex.

The only reason to take the Canoness is to pay the tax to get the Sororitas Command Squad which isn't that good. With her Faith power she is clearly intended for use in Close combat, but she happens to suck at it. Compare her point cost with the Rosarius to the Space Marine captain and see the difference. For 10 more points, the Captain gets +1 WS, +1 S, +1 T, +1 I and has all the same initial wargear but has way more options. This is just sad.The command sqaud is priced identically to the SM Command Squad for much less return and less options.
There aren't that many battle reports I think because its like work to do a battle and write a report becuase I sure as heck don't remember the blow-by-blow of each turn I particpated in.
