Has anyone on here actually purchased some of these? 70mm or 30mm?
I'm just curious about the quality in your hands.

i have both 30mm and 70mm minis from Knight...
they are great sculpts, but heavy on the mouldlines...
30mm are not heroic scale, so the detail is very fine, making the mouldlines seem that much more extreme...
i love the 30mm sculpts, but they don't feel like a good value for the money...
they are awesome pieces that you pay a premium for...
70mm, on the other hand, are limited edition (500 each w/ great packaging) and display oriented...
they feel like money well spent, even for the $100 Scout Trooper on Speeder Bike...
hope that helps...
cheers

In my experience, i think these are really good quality models, if not, i would not have posted them here.
I have a 70 mm. model and some 30 mm. models and i didn't notice any excessive mould line or bad casting... of course, this is my experience.
However, i posted time ago a review of the Darth Vader 70 mm. model in my blog. It's in spanish, but there are many pictures, so check it if you wish:
http://tabladelavarwargames.blogspot.com/2010/11/darth-vader-resena-de-la-miniatura.html
BTW, there are also some other miniatures from Knight Models this month. All 70 mm. these ones:
Chewbacca: http://www.knightmodels.com/product.php?id_product=84&id_lang=1
Ghost Rider: http://www.knightmodels.com/product.php?id_product=83&id_lang=1

Greivous' guards are brilliant. I may have to pick up a few of those to replace my WotC versions... they're rather prone to Bendy-ankle Syndrome, due to their legs being so thin.

From Wookieepedia:
The bowcasters were clip-loaded with usually six explosive bolts per clip. However some Wookiees developed a bowcaster that fired pure blaster bolts and no clip was required.[1]
A polarizing orb sat at each end of the bow, generating a magnetic field used to accelerate the quarrels.[5] After cocking the weapon, a simple trigger sped the quarrel forward and charged it in an envelope of plasmoid.

Stormtroopers and Jabba look brilliant.
BUT...
It looks to me like they got Leia's face wrong...she looks "off" somehow...almost like the shape is "near, but not quite", compared to Carrie Fisher's in EP VI...

It's may also be of interest that it takes tremendous strength to cock a Wookie crossbow. In one of the original Han Solo books, Han fires off a charge from Chewie's Bowcaster but is unable to chamber a second quarrel.
Just a snippet of useless trivia.

I think a lot of the problem with Leia's face is just from the stark highlighting. A softer paintjob would probably help a lot.

Leia's head is way too big as well as an awkward pose ( understandable, after all, she's chained to Jabba).
I've always wondered how much of a market there is for something like this. It seems oversaturated and outdated
Maybe I'm just burnt out. Phantom Menace and Ruination of the Clones distorted my SW world.

I dont get all the hate for the series. Sure, it was watered down a bit for the kiddies, but overall enjoyable IMO. I think some people simply over rate the original trilogy...and thats coming from a fan. Hell, Ive even gone as far as to spend some time playing a Star Wars RPG campaign.

The clone Wars TV series is very popular among kids (and some older Star Wars fans). Personally I like the design of Episodes 1-3 incl. Clone Wars series much much more than Episodes 4-6.

never said i was looking forward to building and painting it...hahahahaha
it does seem like there will be a lot of prep...
i'm in the middle of prep work on the 72mm Boba Fett right now...
loads of file work, and any hoses and straps are quite fiddly...
also, the nozzles on the jetpack are connected by a tiny bit of metal and will have to be clipped off and pinned back on...
most of us have piles of unpainted stuff, so the packaging strikes me before the build and paint work needed...
the tin, artwork, and collector's card are a nice touch for an expensive 70mm mini...
makes them feel unique and special, and justifies some of the cost...
overall, the big guys don't feel like such a huge task to prep in comparison to the 30mm guys...
they are so small and fiddly that the moldlines seem that much more extreme...
working over the 30mm Han Solo (a one-piece mini) does not make me look forward to any of the guys with seperate arms or lightsabres...
as a Star Wars fan, i am stoked that these minis exist...
i've never been a fan of Marvel, but the two modern soldiers are definitely on my wish list...
those guys have me excited to drop $60 a mini, which is a rare thing...
cheers
