Just still alive after surviving so many alien attacks, creepy weird and hard as nails mutant things, and ring world annihilations.... are the primarchs still alive?

To be fair though, we weren't comparing the chief to a primarch, just a normal marine

old age will still claim the chief one day. i was just talking bout a chapter master Not a primarch O.O IMHO master chief has been through enough to merit being ranked against the chapter masters. Just as good in combat. Maybe faster due to size. (Marine has more stamina) But otherwise total equals. The deciding factor is the age process. A normal spacemarine if not killed by battle can live for almost 300 years. The chapter masters have lived for. Well Ever.
And as far as we know only a hand full are dead. some went off on great lone crusades and will return one day. (they better or mankind is screwed)

Example Blood angels chapter master dante. He is over 1000 years old.... How old is master chief biologically? (as in not counting time in deep sleep/ cryo stasis)

The Chief is about 40 something in real life, about 25 biologically.
Are you kind of saying that a Chapter Master is able to live longer because he was pre-determined at being a Chapter Master? There's no difference between say, Dante, and any anonymous Tactical Marine in the Blood Angels in terms of biology. Dante has lived longer because he hasn't died, any Astartes could live for that long if it ends up that they are actually free of the human aging process like many sources have said.

Actually Blood Angels are directly stated to have abnormally long lifespans for Marines.

Yeah, that's why I never directly confirmed that Astartes are definitely immortal. There are numerous conflicting sources, same with Astartes feeling fear.

<-------------- Mighty Morhpin' Power Rangers. Anyway, a UNSC sniper rifle fires .65 caliber round. A bolter fires fully automatic .75 caliber rounds that are also explosive.

Using Mephiston is cheating. Seriously.

He rips Carnifexes to pieces with his bare hands.

You know, whenever I see this thread people usually forget that spartans are extremely fast (the games would not be able to do this well) and the equipment spartans take into battle, also the backpack is essentially a nuke. Just my 2 cents.

Space Marines have all of those things.

Space Marines are faster than their bulk might suggest and the weapons they carry are equal or better.
Pretty sure the fusion generators in Spartan suits have a fail safe, I dont recall nuclear explosions every time I die in Halo.

Also the height difference is pretty much nonexistant.

A Marine in power armour is a little over 2.1 meters tall (7 feet for those unfamiliar with metric) according to Deathwatch, just like Master Chief.

That said, I would give the Marine the edge. He is stronger, with overall better armour, and the speed difference is negligible, even if it exists. The Marine might actually be faster.

In 40k, skilled Inquisitors and Marines can deflect projectile fire with power swords, yo.

Interesting points. Y ou know now I want to see a Spartan flipping off an inquisitor who called an orbital strike, but the Spartan just uses a bubble shield.

ok ready be ready for a nerd rage...

Pros of MC (master Chief):
Shields, only terminator armour comes with a built in personal shield system.(SM codexs)
independent, the master cheif can fight solo when space marines are taught mostly how to work in groups A.K.A. (no independent character rule for SM)
adaptation, all spartans are taught to adapt into any situation. (halo books)
Speed, lets keep in mind that even after all the pros of power armor it is still bulky and slows down the user(Deathwatch Rulebook)
intelligence of psychology, MC and all those in the Spartan 2 program got taught the way somebody acts and why. (halo books)
badassness, self explainatory. (main character)
Cons of MC:
Mark VI Armor: after the shield system MC's armor gives virtually no protection when under bolter fire. (common sense)
TIME: 40K takes place in year 41000... halo takes place in 5000

We hopefully all know the pros and cons of SM

... so if we look at this carefully we see that a SM and the MC wouldn't be fighting because SM is just a newer version of the spartan supersoilder. but if they were to fight the SM would win because he is the best and most up to date version of a supersoilder.

sm tactical squad: $37.25
warlord titan: $575
proxying: priceless

heylookit'sthisthreadagain Now that we've gotten that over with...

Ok, let's review.

Every character ever is portrayed in context with the other characters in their universe.

Master Chief is a 1 ton super-soldier who can fire a .50 sniper rifle without even stopping, from the shoulder, and flip tanks over by pushing them with his fists.

Space Marines carry what is effectively a MK19 automatic grenade launcher, *even in pistol form*

So a Spartan can handle weapons in ways a normal Marine couldn't, in the same way that a Space Marine can even carry a Heavy Bolter where it takes 2 Guardsman to maintain one while laying down.

Nowhere in any of this lore does it EVER say who's better. Can Master Chief punch out a Space Marine? Is a bolter just going to pulp a Spartan?
Who knows? Oh right, no one.

Indeed indeed, it all ends the same way...can master chief beat down a giant daemon in close combat, even with a gravity hammer? I don't think so and I love halo! I also agree with everything lunahound has said
