I considered spending the cash, I almost convinced myself to. Than I realized, for the few pages this novella is, it will be circulating around the web sooner than we think; just like Promethean Sun was.
Don't get me wrong, I buy the books and support the authors (Lol@pirating novels) but $40-$60 for a novella is beyond ridiculous. Only worth it if you need all the shinies. Maybe if it had a custom figure with it or something.... yeah, that would justify the price tag.
The Silas Hand/Stern dioarama didn't even cost as much as Gold Edition Aurelian and it was limited to 1,000! and it came with a book LOL

Actually, it's the Black Library's fault for putting out a limited edition run. They, not I, created a situation where demand far outstripped supply. They, not I, allowed people to order many copies instead of limiting each buyer to only one. And just because I managed to snag one purely for speculative resale value doesn't in any way make me the bad guy, no matter how much money I ask or eventually receive.

That's entirely in the eye of the beholder. I certainly consider what you did to be highly unethical. If you can live with gouging some unfortunate with an inflated price on ebay then good for you, but don't expect our sympathy. Especially with reasoning as silly as 'they let me do it so I'm not responsible for my actions'.

Why are you flaming him for doing what you would have done if you had the extra money? Don't be upset because he was able to and you were not.

So can someone tell me what this book is all about? I saw it on eBay a couple of days ago at some crazy high price. Is it the limited production run that is making the book so sought after, or does the book contain some key content to the (i don't if it's fantasy or 40k) universe that makes it lynchpin?
Anyways can someone take a minute to give me a short synopsis on the contents of the book and explain its popularity.

I got my copy minutes after they went on sale. I could have ordered ten copies. Hell, I could have ordered a hundred. Most of the people who made orders could have gone for multiples. Fortunately, most people have higher ethical standards than you would have us believe.

The book isn't an essential or key component of the HH story, but it does go some way towards further fleshing out the character of Lorgar.
AFAIK it mainly deals with what Lorgar did and saw when he ventured into the Eye of Terror.
I'm sure that further/fuller details will emerge in due course.
It's combination of it being limited edition, a HH book and by a damn good author that is fuelling the frenzy over it. This situation perhaps (!) not being helped by this being the 2nd time it's been on sale. The 1st time, around the start of September IIRC, descended into chaos, dogs mating with cats, women weeping and lamenting ... you know, the usual sort of things that accompany a GW related release.
So, they pulled it from sale, printed off another 3,000 copies -- in a cheaper "silver" edition that lacks the art and isn't author signed, and then both went ons ale this past Monday.
This time the process went a bit better but, as you have no doubt seen, there were still a few issues and, inevitably, some disappointed souls.
T'would seem there are a few silver editions still available : http://www.blacklibrary.com/Horus-Heresy/aurelian-silver-edition.html but not for long one would imagine.
... I'm going to close this now so it doesn't degenerate further into name calling and general soemthingorother.
