Okay, that's what I wanted to know. I probably won't be getting this barring it having a trial and impressing me with it.

The people in the past who convinced themselves to do unspeakable things were no less human than you or I. They made their decisions; the only thing that prevents history from repeating itself is making different ones.

A friend of mine got in for beta testing and he was telling me its really good. Apparenetly there are a lot of elements which you would normally only seen in single player rpgs which have been put in. This makes me much more interesting in buying the game.

I have a big criticism, the current (and likely those that will make it to the game) races are all very human and 'samey'. I want to see some of the weirder races that make star wars so iconic. Where is the wookie or the trandoshan or those cool guys with the 3 eyes or the squid heads or the Nautolans? These things define the universe.
I'm hopeful that the game will add these races in future expansions.
The official word on this is that basically, they feel those other 'extreme' races aren't human enough for players to connect with.
Yeah, it's basically load of gak.
I was really hoping for a Nautolan to make a scoundrel with alongside my human Jedi. Sadly, that is not in the stars for me at the time.

Such as it is, it is a Bioware game.
Bioware does two things well...
Deep and involved stories.
RPG.
Adding the MMO dimension is going to be a test to see if they can do three things right.
We'll have to see.
I know I'll be there to buy it.

I had the CE pre-ordered inside of an hour.
So yes, I'll be getting it.
Haven't been this excited for a game in a long time.

There are some who walk until their legs fail them and they fall to the ground. I find that respectable.
Then there are those who drag themselves further. I find that admirable. |

I'm getting it.
The problem there is that the non-human races in Star Wars have voices that are... well, it'd sound patently ridiculous for, say, a Mon Calamari or Trandoshan to sound like a human, which means they'd have to redub every relevant class's lines with the appropriate voices for each gender, which would make the game even more ridiculously in huge in terms of hard drive space required.
Don't get me wrong, I was a Bothan in SWG and I'd love to be a Bothan in TOR, but it's just no feasible.
However, I imagine there are plenty of NPCs that are non-humanoid.

Personally, I'm not bothered by them starting off with the human-like races.
Notice: human-like, not humanoid. A large proportion of races within the Star Wars lore are humanoids.
But really. It's a good way to start, as it lets you not have to worry about having to do things like figure out what vehicle a Wookie would have to ride in or why they would be a Trooper instead of some kind of unique kind of guerilla-warrior.
