Right, but it did not create the Chaos Gods as we know them. The eddies that later became the Big 4 began at that point, but it took good ol' fashioned humanity to wake them up. We're just that good at being dicks.

Fluff for the Fluff God!

Who did the sueing?

The guy who created Malal whilst working for GW. He left the company and took the idea with him.

In truth, nobody sued anybody. John Wagner and Alan Grant created Malal (as part of the 'Quest of Kaleb Daark' comic) as freelancers, not GW employees, meaning they owned the rights to the characters, and that Games Workshop would be obliged to pay them a royalty to make further use of them in other publications. Unsurprisingly, this prospect was unappealing to Games Workshop; thus Malal was forgotten about, his intended place in 'Something Rotten in Kislev' filled by two minor Chaos Gods, "Zuvassin the Great Undoer" and "Necoho the Doubter".

Frankly, Malal's absense, like that of Squats, Zoats and Fishmen is no great loss - indeed just like them he's a daft concept whose only point of interest is his obscurity.

Malal still makes an appearance in SRiK, you encounter his Champion as part of the storyline.

It is best to be a pessimist. You are usually right and, when you're wrong, you're pleasantly surprised.

I would have to go find my SRiK book, which was probably put in a box on a shelf approximately 15 years ago.

My copy is right in front of me, and I see no Malal. The only time I can remember Malal turning up in WFRP was in one of the adventures in 'The Dying of the Light'.

Either way, the point I wished to make was that nobody in fact sued anybody over Malal. Games Workshop simply wanted to avoid paying royalties to Wagner and Grant.

I'll have to double check lexicanum and the wiki...also, do you know what book he first appeared in?

No idea, sorry. He was long dead by the time I started.

Arguing with some people is like playing chess with a pigeon. You can play the best chess in the world, but at the end of the day the pigeon will still knock all the pieces off the board and then gak all over it.

In fairness to them, neither the concept of Malal nor the Kaleb Daark comic strip were good enough to merit paying for once, let alone paying a fee every time they were mentioned.

The Corpse Emperor who resides on the golden throne no longer functions as anything more than a battery. "The Emperor of the Warp" is in fact a separate entity, and the Failure of the Golden Throne will only threaten his continued existence in so much as it threatens the ability of man to travel using his light. Should "The Emperor of the Warp" begin to take victories in the Grand Game, won by the those whom he raises to Daemon hood, Draigo and Sanguinor, the warp will begin to settle, and man will be able to travel in the immaterium without fear.

Thoughts, besides the Heresy stamp?

Quite a good hypothesis.
