Their business model has changed in the past 20 years to concentrate on their main games and produce ever-changing model lines to support them and bring in revenue. I still think their best games are from the Specialist Games range, but they have limited scope and GW are after all trying to make money. (Gorkamorka was early 2000s).

Just so long as you're aware that this stands in direct opposition to statements from GW corporate officers themselves.

The games exist to support the models.

They do now. When the company was founded they didn't even have a miniatures range.

That's true. They were a board game company when they were founded.

Far be it from me to ever pass up an opportunity to bash GW, but at least I'll try to have some reason behind my words. The Rogue Trader era was a mess fluff-wise - it just wasn't organised. The changes made back then weren't done to service new model releases, they were done to rationalise the stuff they had already written, cut the stuff that didn't work (half human/half Eldar Ultramarine Librarian anyone?) and then codify it into a new game.

The result was 2nd Ed.

Brian Ansell, owner and managing director of Citadel took over Games Workshop in 1983. So, if people are determined to quibble, they have been essentially a miniatures company for twenty eight years.
