Thanks! The Wolves are a little time consuming and a little confuddling not used to actual flesh tones hehehe.... I believe I have 4+ hours on the Dread with only a few details left to do then I get to pain his lava base and he'll be ready to go!

wow awesome stuff. i love the tau and i love Gundam so this stuff is right up my alley. When i first saw your Battle suit i thought it was a Johnny Ridden scheme.

curious if you intend on doing a black tri-star scheme on 3 battle suits. i always thought the Dom color scheme would be interesting on a Tau mech.

The lightning jolting Kroot looks interesting. i haven't seen a kroot look like that before.

Thanks DeathRex! I have always loved Gundam, and I really like my Tau. I am going to have a lot of battle suits so yes I will have many different schemes And I may just apply the Black Tri-star Doms to my broadsides. I had already planned on using a Dom scheme on them due to the big guns! My Kroot was supposed to be just that, out of the ordinary. I got sick of looking at a butt load of kroot that would essentially the same scheme.

Thanks!
Ben

PS- I am always open for scheme suggestions!

I really like the lightning from the kroot, did you just make it out wire or did you do anything special?

Actually Jay I did use wire. My sister had some VERY fine jewelry wire she let me use. I cut it into random lengths and used the longer pieces for the jagged lightnening and then took the shorter pieces and twisted them around the long ones. Thus making it much more visible and held paint better along with a little bit of texture. All in all I like it pretty well and it came out better than I expected. I think the real trick is in the actual positioning of the wire. When I first did it I asked my mom (who knows nothing of 40k) what it looked like coming out of his hand. She just looked puzzled and said, "Whips?" I told her what I said it was supposed to be and she advised much more sagged corners in a zig zag instead of a more rounded curve. Then the object source lighting really made it look like lightening!

Hope that helped!

This was my favorite gundam. I still have him, although he suffered a serious leg fraction when my dog took a nip at him, and all the guns have disappeared. Very nice models.

Thanks! Those are to break up the monotony, if you have someone who will give you minis, buy you paint or pay you money and you need something to break up your typical mini schedule then I HIGHLY recommend doing commission work or just painting in trade for something! Though I must admit I think I like the Dread probably best of all the minis I have painted!

I'm guessing Daemonette's or a custom kroot maybe?

I don't know really, but more things the better the posting opportunities is the way I see it.

Well I am using Daemonette parts but not making one. I see bits and I see opportunities for things out of the ordinary Search the internet for " Starcraft Queen of Blades" look for images That's what I am gunning for.

Always! I love my little Tau! I have never been to great with molding so we'll see how it goes. So don't expect too much from it! I mean he looks like a gun ball but he also looks like he hopped in the doughnut line one too many times! A little rotund, when I move him around I make little noises *trundle trundle trundle*

Yup, he is CHUBBEH! I used two pieces of wire for the arms and then a Devilfish antenna for the gun. I'll post pic up later. I'm waiting for the GS to cure. He will look best painted obviously. I coulda made him look better, but I wanted to use the actual drone pieces so that lead to a more rotund gunball.

Wooohooooo! Just had a fun game last night!! I played a 1000pt game against Dark Eldar last night. I didn't take any notes since I was constantly checking all the rules etc. But essentially here was my list:
HQ- Crises Suit:
PR, MP, Shield, Hardwired DC, 2 Shield Drones, IA, HW MT
Bodyguard:
MP, PR, HW TL, TA, HW MT
Troop 1:
12 FW, Shas'ui, Markerlight and marker drone
Troop2:
12 FW, Shas'ui, markerlight
Elite 1:
4 Stealth suits, TA
Elite 2: Same as Elite 1
Heavy Support:
1 XV88, TA, 2 Shield drones

Pretty much wrecked all his raiders, the resulting walking DE warriors and wyches got shot up. They did kill my 2 suits in CC (tied up for like 4 turns with me "stepping on and squishing" DE to draw in combat the whole time.) and his archon swept 1 group of FWs after tying in combat for like 3 turns. Needless to say it was fun and the DE got beat pretty badly.

Sounds like a good match for the Tau, I still have to beat Dark Eldar at 800 points so you are probably doing better than I am!

It's a shame about not getting a Batrep though, would have made a good addition to the Blog!

Good to see that Tau actually did something in combat as well, they usually just get swept in first round of CC.

Nice win! Not the most conventional list, but it got the job done lol I have had a couple battles w/mine, I should post them to. Not super surprised to see the suits staying alive in combat tho, those 3 up armor saves can make them very resilliant

I know I was really wanting too, but I don't have a camera up here so I had no way to accurately keep track of it and there was so much stopping and looking up rules. Deploayment was FWs with on the left in cover, suits center behind cover that they jump on top of to shoot, and then broadside in cover on the right with FWs in cover above him with both units of stealth suits in outflanking reserves. His deployment was like 3 raiders on my left, 1 centered and 1 on the right. The jist of it was mainly suits jumping up turn 1 popping the archon's raider on the left, then his turn he swapped out raider riders from warriors to his archon and incubi, moved all forward turbo boosted and the raider on the right foolishly trys to hide while moving up, my turn 2 sees my one suit in the center plow another raider on the left immobilizing it and thus wrecking it due to turboing. My other suit draws LOS on the right raider which while being hidden from the broadside couldn't hide from my suits. He explodes the raider killing I think 3 wyches in the process. his turn 2 has him moving his raiderless incubi and Archon to assault my left FWs and bodyguard. The other raider disembarks his warriors who move to assault the HQ and bodyguard. His wyches on the right move into cover to advance on the FWs (foolish wyhchies!). Turn 3 My left FWs shoot his archon and incubi thinning them out to just the archon, my broadside missles the wyches and the FWs shoot bringing the wyches down to I think 3 stands. The assaulting locks the HQ and bodyguard, the archon assaults the left FWs who then get locked up for the rest of the game, one squad of my stealth suits came in I think on the beginning of turn 3 they moved towards his warriors back at his deployment. Turn 4 my other stealth suits come in by his back warriors and move towards as well. In shooting my stealth suits burst cannon his warriors in the back and break them and they start running, my FWs wipe his wyches, My HQ is still tied up slowly losing drones and taking wounds, but also stepping on DE warriors, archon and FWs are still drawing in combat him saving and me losing a guy here and there. His turn he puts the remaining raider in to try and dark lance my broadside (in manouvering he gets right near the melee at my hq) more drawing in combat, my broadside smiles and explodes his raider, the explosion reducing what was left of his warriors to 3 guys. Turn 5 he kills my HQ and bodyguard, Turn 6 I wipe out his 3 warriors and he finally beats my FWs in CC with his archon, we roll and go on to turn 7, Nothing left to do but unload on his archon.

Game over.

Somewhere in there his retreating warriors rally, but then they eat 24 burst cannon shots so they died. There were little shooting periods where we shot but whiffed so they didn't really stick in my mind. I guess I kinda made a bat rep anyhow... Hope this was decent enough even though I don't have pics or posted every single detail. If its too confusing there is only 1 thing you need to take away from reading this: Tau won and actually did ok in CC though eventually lost but bought enough time to knock off all other threats.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Yes agreed darkcloud! I know it was a kinda off the wall list just in the fact that I was trying to use only what I had but I borrowed the broadside. Though I asked the owner if he wanted to make a donation to the Greater Good and leave it with me... He laughed and said no.... Cursed GK player

"We've lost contact with another fringe world Shas'o, we are currently trying to learn what the threat is. We are trying to patch through to drone currently on the planet..... We are through! Look at the screen Shas'o!" The ghostly image of horror flicker onto the screen, "What is it???":
