Real is to be used on special days.

Since I grew up going to sugar bush, real is the only way, worth the extra price. I miss the maple candies.

Honestly never gave it that much thought, I just grab the Mrs Butterworth..pour it on my pancakes ( or whatever) and eat.

Being from New Hampshire I was raised with the real stuff, and if it is not available I will do without. Or I will substitute scotch, if that's an option. That goes just as well with pancakes.

My friend, you need to get your hands on the true item. I think you'll notice a marked difference.

I refuse to buy table syrup..... There are so many uses for maple syrup that 'table syrup' can't come close to.

Some of my favourite's:
Maple butter, a simple sauce comprised of maple syrup, and melted butter, amazing on salmon. Add some garlic, and oyu have a great wing sauce
Maple Soy: a 50/50 mix of Maple sryup and soy sauce, great for stir-fry, or a dipping sauce for spring mix.
Add a little bit of maple to a glass of whiskey and soda
When making chilli, add in some maple syrup as a bit of a sweetener, depending on the rest of you're recipe, it will make you drool....

There are many other uses, but I'm too lazy to type them... Maybe I'll go make some French toast!

I used to use the "Aunt Jemima" fake stuff, and real maple syrup took a slight getting used to, now I can hardly order anything in a breakfast restaurant that "requires" syrup because it tastes so wrong.

No your right, its pretty damn nasty, and very obviously not real. I can tell the differences between the grades of Milk by looking at them and then tasting, and its strait away.

I never used it, I have some syrup stuff in my kitchen somewhere, but I rarely use it (And I think its the fake stuff, and I haven't used for a few years).
I prefer sugar, lemon juice, and strawberry sauce on my pancakes, and that's the only place I use my syrup

Sadly we normally use fake, however my mother went on a holiday to canada a few (thinking about it this must have been quite a while ago...) years ago and brought back a big tin of the genuine article as well as a load of maple syrup based sweets.

The maple syrup we make is awesome

I like putting blueberries and blueberry sauce on my pancakes and waffles. Then again I also like using olive oil in my waffles because it makes it taste somewhat nutty. But if I usually eat breakfast it consists of a bowl of rice krispies with a banana sliced into it or a peanut butter and banana sandwich. Sometimes I'll have banana pancakes with eggs and bacon, but maple syrup does not go good with eggs. Ketchup on the other hand does go good with eggs. If we fry an egg and cook it all the way through we can then put it on a slice of toast with a slice of cheese, some ketchup, and a bit of miracle whip to make a nice sandwich.

Other than that I'm a fan of eggs in a basket... so yeah not a lot of pancakes.

Don't need to chill it for long at all, and if anything it's best served warm(not hot). It enhances the flavour all the more!
All you have to do is pour some maple syrup in a saucepan, heat it up, then put in some butter, let it melt, and mix it in.

It depends on what you want to use it for, really.

Flavor develops over time, which is why you always chill a compound butter.
