Does it have the word Blast in it's profile? If you answer yes, then guess what. It's a Blast weapon.

I personally think you're asking the wrong question here. I think the question is, What type of weapon is it? The answer would be rapid fire, assault, heavy, or pistol.

Do we refer to a plasmagun as a gets hot weapon? No we refer to it as a rapid fire weapon with the gets hot! rule.

Do we refer to a meltagun as a melta weapon? Sometimes it is incorrectly called this because of our nature as wargamers to shorten terminology. It is actually an assault weapon with the melta rule.

Those are additional characteristics of the weapon in question, not a weapon type in and of itself. The reason I say this is that a weapon can function with having Rapid fire as its only type, but it cannot function as having the Blast as it's only type. That means they are modifiers, or additional characteristics.

Ok, so you want to refer to it as a heavy weapon or an assault weapon, or whatever. Doesn't matter how you want to refer to it, by type or special rules, and yes, some of us do refer to them as 'Gets Hot' weapons or 'Template' weapons or 'Blast' weapons, beacuse that's what they are. just as a Vehicle can be a tank and a skimmer and open-topped all at the same time. To be completely accurate, we should refer to the entire weapon profile.

But bottom line. Does it have the word "BLAST" in the profile? If it does, then it uses the Blast rules. Really, it's that simple.

And as already stated how many time? Blast rules do not cover how to use a single weapon that fires multiple blasts. Got it?

Off to game, ya'll fight nice now.
