On their ebay store they had the GUARD monsterpocalypse set and it had 10 available. I purchased 1 as you know if it says 10 available then i would expect they have them. After 3 weeks and there being nothing delivered and the status on ebay not changing I sent them a message which was read and not replied to so I sent a message each day for a week and the same each time.
I got fed up and rang them to be told oh we have been meaning to contact you. Excuse 1 was that in their order a can of gloss varnish had spilt and ruined the box so it was sent back and reordered and would be back in stock in a weeks time. 1 week later I call again, nope not here. Another few days and this guy knew nothing about a so called varnish incident and that my box was never in stock and it was only ordered when I purchased it on ebay, but with supplier issues it had not come in nearly 7 weeks after ordering.
Absoloutely bloody disgraceful. This was the icing on the cake for me and I don't care how cheap they are, they are lying useless S****s

The two times my mate and I used them we had no issues save for a long turn around time for stuff to arrive. Everything we ordered did arrive eventually, even if it did take about a month or so total for the whole of the order to get here. Was just as the GW Embargo was going into place so we put it down to high volume or orders at the time, but I guess the adage of mileage may vary holds true here...

Wow! That is horrendous indeed!
I remember having an issue with a particular transaction involving me not getting my miniatures at all. After (literally) months of unreplied to emails (I live in Aus so phone calls aren't entirely convenient), I had to use those 2 words 'legal' and 'action'. I immediately got a response. I was told I could either have the amount credited as 'money back' or the amount could be credited back to my paypal account. I stated I wanted it back in my PPA, but received no response. Again after emails over two weeks, the situation had not changed.
Giving in, I decided 'well I might as well just use it then' and made an order to the value of the 'money back' scheme. Ordered USING the money back scheme properly. I immediately got an email saying that the amount had been WITHDRAWN from my paypal account AND the money back had been withdrawn as well. Ergo? I paid, essentially, 3 times for the same order.
It took yet more emails and contact before I finally got a response, only to have more credits in the 'money back' scheme.
I refuse to use it as I'm sure that I'll end up being scammed yet again.

I've had problems - but it's hard to seperate Maelstrom from the UK post.
My first order from them showed up in <2 weeks, I was pretty impressed. Free shipping, crossing an ocean, and it only took a few days longer than ordering from the States.
My first Christmas order from them (ordered late November) didn't show up till the 23rd - whew, cutting it close.
My order last Christmas (ordered in mid November) didn't show up until sometime in February. Yuck :/
This year though I ordered from them (again during their Christmas promotion - which now started in mid-Oct) and got my package in about a week. Yay!
I've decided not to order any time sensitive packaging from them, and just be pleasantly surprised when it shows up super-fast.
*I've ordered from their Ebay store a few times too - that always seems very fast to me.

I've had quite a few shipping problems with Maelstrom (well, more processing time to shipping, not the shipping itself). The last order I made just never showed up, I got a replacement sent and parts were still missing, so I got a refund on those parts.
It really didn't bother me. Maybe I'm more patient than others, and, also, it was the last order before the embargo, so perhaps an element of nostalgic loss crept in.

@ GhostxHeart - I once had cause to get a refund from them (they didnt have the stock they said they had ), so they put it in the moneyback account rather than my credit card.
I did resolve it with a call, and to be fair the chap I spoke to was very helpful and explained that they are charged for moving money to banks/credit cards/paypal. I had to say sorry about that and give me the money, which they did (because they have to without charge to the customer).
Not really a scam but perhaps a sign that they are a bit cheap.

The the last mistake I had they refunded me, and gave me a store credit as a way of saying sorry (it's how I got the last Rogue Trader book for like $12! Yay store credit!).

To be honest something like that would probably have sorted it for me. Even without store credit, an appology or statement from them that this was bad luck for me and that they would try so that it didn't happen again.
Maybe it's just the guy who handled my order

Taken from Maelstroms' Website.
So, who are you lot then?
Wargamers like you, plain and simple! We have a lot of experience in the wargaming field, both the actual wargaming itself and the hobby side of things, and our staff play regularly and even attend tournaments for various game systems.
Sadly, this is the crux of any issues that happen as far as I am concerned. You want to go instore and speak to staff fine. want to talk about what to purchase? then having knowledgeable staff is a must.
Knowing how JoTWW works and what the best make up for a late war SS panzergrenadier company doesnt help gak when it comes to shipping, purchasing, stock control, and customer services etc. Get staff in who know to maintain stock, oversee a warehouse pick/pack/despatch operation and get a body in the office who is used to dealing with, and resolving, customer service issues.

Our stuff has always arrived so far but it can take time indeed. As I have plenty more time then money that usually works out fine. And as our flgs at times takes even longer (without the beefy discounts), you can do the math. The mess ups described are not acceptable though and people that this happened to are understandbly miffed, I would be so as well.
