I'm not against pdf codecies. I just wouldn't use it. I love my Kindle for novels. I would hate it (or an Android tablet) for a reference book.

Your fix is wrong.

I would never spell "realize" as "realise". Jerk!

But it's really not attempting to make it an "argument". It's simply a potential drawback of going entirely towards eBooks.

If they retain both eBooks and hardcopies--I don't care. Take away my hardcopies and I will be furious.

That is because you are a filthy heathen

There was nothing said about dropping hard copies at all

A drawback, but in nothing we said was it mentioned that there was any indication that provision of pdf rulebooks would lead to the withdrawal of hard copies

And I mentioned it, originally, only as that--a drawback that should be considered by the individuals who extol the virtues of eBooks as a sole way to do Codices/Rulebooks.

Also--Dave stole my rulebook.

I like the idea of a printed book and I really love GW's new hardback army books for WFB and I'm looking forward to collecting them for 40k also when the time comes.

That said, I'd like to see ebooks too. But not the usual ePub kind of thing where it's mostly just plain text with a pretend page you turn. It should be more like an interactive PDF/app where you can easily tap on your table of contents or whatever to jump right to the info you need. They could even take it a step further and have stuff like interactive photo galleries instead of just pages of photos, with 360 degree views of the models so you can check out all angles. And skip the whole faq/errata thing by just having automatic updates to clarify things.

It would be great, but I'm not expecting GW to do this in my lifetime (since we're all supposed to die in 2012).

People are much more likely to pirate if a legitimate way of purchasing the desired product in the desired medium is not available.

If people want an e-version of a book, and you don't make an e-version of a book, then they will be pirated. Just because you don't offer what people want does not mean that people will quit wanting it. Of course if you buy a hard copy and scan it yourself then you have an e-copy that is not pirated.

But a pirated e-book will beat out a non-existing e-book every single time.

Right now GW has 0% of the e-book market share when it comes to rules/codex/etc...

They can only improve from there.
