a lot of interesting points being made.

I chose my two armies for a variety of reasons and steps...

1. I wanted 2 armies for variety's sake (more than 2, maybe...)

2. I wanted opposing armies on Order and Destruction side (yes, 8th Ed is my first WHF Ed)

3. I figured I'd pick armies that were playable in WAR, since that was my first true exposure to Warhammer Fantasy. So, matching #2's step, I picked Dwarfs since they were my favorite, then between DE and WoC, decided on DE for their more opposite style (in all ways) of Dwarfs, plus WoC seemed overplayed (on the internet at least, not locally).

However, plenty of armies that didn't apply to steps #2 or #3 were tempting - VC, Ogres, Brets, WE...so many sweet Fantasy armies.

currently playing: ASoIaF | Warhammer 40k: Kill Team

other favorites:
FO:WW | RUMBLESLAM | WarmaHordes | Carnevale | Infinity | Warcry | Wrath of Kings

Chose my 1st army (Empire) because the detachment system looked cool. Plus, I most often pick humans when playing PnP rpgs or video games.

Picked my 2nd army (HE) because it was fully painted and the price was right.

My (still on the sprue) 3rd army (VC) was chosen in concert with my decision to make my 1st army from Stirland. A Stirland force that could afford a Steam Tank and Greatswords had to be getting funding from a shady mysterious source. Also, I can start them off slow as a SoM sorcerous pact and eventually build them into a full army.

Dwarfs

When it comes to gaming, if Im given the option to choose dwarfs... I'll pick them 100% of the time, no matter what. even in video games ;D. I love imaganing 3" foot, bearded drunk fellas screaming on the battlefield.

Orks (40k)

Because there backround has the most funniest stuff I've ever read and they sound like the people that live up in South Auckland ;D
