I chose dark elves solely for aesthetics originally then fell in love with the background.

so why did you choose your armies?

Woc is my first fantasy army.
I chose them because the tz lord on disc looked sweet and I had one at one point but got rid of it and wished I hadnt so ya that and most of the models look cool (warriors, knights, lords and heroes).
The fluff sounded good and I wanted to play an evil army.

Second army is ogres.

I like leadbelchers and ya no one else has em.
The models seemed nice and chaos warriors were getting a bit boring to paint and such.
The mournfang cav and the thundertusk did help a lot too such cooool models.

Overview of the WoC army book.

I picked ogres because of there rather neutral nature, and the concept of a wall of fat, muscle, and hunger bearing down on you is rather frightening. Like cannibal body builders frightening.

I picked brets as my secondary because I like the arthurian aspect of it, and I love me some peasants and man at arms

My final fantasy army is looking to be Vampire Counts, simply because I love death themed anything.

OnG for me. No other army has as much character imo. Awesome amount of unit choices, special rules and model count.

The OnG are the largest sized army also, not on the field (skaven), but if you had every available option in a 2-2.5k list youd have the most models.

Plays like scooping up a load of mud and throwing it your opponents face and saying "deal with it".

2nd army is Ogres, but were shelved before the new book as I had no luck. Now the new book is out im gradually piecing the new units together and always fancied some BRB lores and the shooting options are great.

Now I need a "good guys" army, magic heavy..hmm lizards but dont want another low I army so dare I say HE ! (my regular opponent who says "hitting on 3s with rerolls". Cmon, how many attacks? Ok, now roll to wound instead

Beastmen currently. Primal Fury is just such an awesome rule, with Ld10 and a bsb I think the fail rate on it is less then 5%. Add a Beastbanner with your gor you have 40 WS4 S4 rerollable hits, 8pts a model is a steal. Then 12pts for a WS4 S6 rerollable hits from the bestigor is pretty awesome. Being able to generate +3 power dice a turn with a 50 point upgrade, then throwing out Miasma to make my targets weaker while buffing my own troops.

Thus, After having thus successively taken each member of the community in its powerful grasp and fashioned him at will, the supreme power then extends its arm over the whole community. It covers the surface of society with a network of small complicated rules, minute and uniform, through which the most original minds and the most energetic characters cannot penetrate, to rise above the crowd. The will of man is not shattered, but softened, bent, and guided; men are seldom forced by it to act, but they are constantly restrained from acting. Such a power does not destroy, but it prevents existence; it does not tyrannize, but it compresses, enervates, extinguishes, and stupefies a people, till each nation is reduced to nothing better than a flock of timid and industrious animals, of which the government is the shepherd

In my cave, lying down and waiting for you...

I chose WoC when I saw the Khorne Lord on Juggernaut. That thing just oozes pure violence, terror and is just freaking menacing. I also like them because WoC have few of the best GW miniatures availabe (all lords of chaos are awesome ). Also WoC gives you choice to command an horde of elite warriors, monsters, cool and deadly characters, an freaking sorcerer dragon and Lord of End Times himself. They depict Warhammer Faba at its best, in bloody combat where champions duel and glory is gathered. FOR KHORNE

I did brets in 1997 cause, IIRC, they were in the starter set...

When I came back in 2009, I did TK because the theme appealed to me and they were underrepresented. Later, I added empire for the same reason that IG was my first (since 1998) 40k army...bog stock humans doing the best they can in a world of horrifying monsters. Now, I'm adding mono Tzeentch warriors... Mainly because I wanted to do Tzeentch Marines back when they had two wounds instead of the invul and AP3 bolters, but didn't like how they were redone...here's hoping that the next CSM codex makes them appeal to me again.

I picked Dwarfs. Because I've always loved dwarfs, video games, books, wargaming and so on. Also watching small, big bearded drunk little people run across the field is always fun.

Their lore is awesome as well

At first I picked HE because I think there race has one of the best back stories (I love reading about Aenarion, Teclis and Tyrion) the models were pretty good and I liked the idea that most other races believe Elves in general are a rumour or a myth. I think thats why I love LOTR Elves also. I'm doing my WOC at the moment for the main fact that they have some of best models! (my favourite being Harry The Hammer, which I have ) and that there also a dark and gritty army which I rarely do. I also got sick of painting blue, bring on the red. Khorne ftw!

Grim Forgotten Nihilist Forest.

I chose Beastmen originally for the shallow reason their the least popular Chaos army in my local area. The concept of anarchist wild mutants that lived in woods helped -bolster- my interest.

The new models are awesome, save for the razorgor. But I've included a number of the older models. Khorngors and some of the old minos.

I will be so happy once the army is painted!

High Elves were my first army, I started playing WHFB back in 5th Edition when I was probably about 12 years old.

I just remember being introduced to the game by a friend who ran me through the different armies and when I heard the name 'High Elves' something just immediately grabbed me and I certainly have never been disappointed by them.

Also looking back now I suppose I was never going to collect an evil army back then and I guess High Elves are probably the most purely 'Good' army in the game...

I've always loved the unpredictability of Skaven. Coupled with the look of much of their warp-steam technology, it just makes for a very entertaining and unpredictable force.

Originally I played Orcs, and to be honest I'm not sure why. I guess I just liked the models.

Now however, I am creating WoC left and right (about to start my 3rd one, and have at least 3 more planned for after that's done) and I can easily say its because of modelling purposes. I have become an absolute fluff nut so I can't help but create themed armies with crazy conversions.

And on top of the WoC armies, I'm hoping to start 4 separate Daemon armies. I think its safe to say that I have issues when it comes to chaos...

Dwarfs because I absolutely love the background.

I've considered alternate armies on the strength of how represented they are locally.

shouldn't you have been the High Elves then? Eh eh? Thank you folks I'll be here all week

started woc for money/painting purposes (I was broke and didn't like painting skin) they get a bit stale tactically but the conversions and customization through upgrades is second to none

Vampire for me. Why? Well, likely because;
- despite being half Italian, I stay white as a sheet even after being out i nthe summer sun for 3+ hours.
- my body temp can keep food frozen. I'll seriously have chattering teeth in a room that's only 75-degrees.
- my canine teeth are feared by my dentist since he's cut his fingers on them, more than once.
- an ER doctor told me I should be dead apparently? Mind you, he was looking at the results of yet another scan of my brain after I'd suffered my 7th concusion... (apparently those are bad?!)

Undead seemed like a natural fit for me, and I love the Underworld movies, so VC's it was! Can't wait for January, or should I say, Vampuary now!

Hmm... where to start?

Dwarfs - I like their background and their attitude. Loyal, determined, never give up; maybe it is that stubborn taurus blood in me. I also played the troll slayer character for warhammer quest.

Wood Elves - I think they have one of the best lines of models for warhammer and I also liked their style of play, hit and run or guerrilla warfare.

Brettonians - I figured I needed an evil army and was considering daemons or dark elves. I went with daemons thinking that I could use them for 40k as well. I found out how many people were playing daemons and traded them for some Brettonians. I've always liked the knights and pegasus knights.

Dark Elves - I was able to pick up two big lots of Dark Elves for pretty cheap and built a monster list for them.

Warriors of Chaos - My most recent acquisition, but have taken a long hiatus since then and still haven't assembled them. The chaos knights are what really attracted me to them.

Next... honestly, I hope nothing. I have too much stuff for a game and hobby that I don't have time to do. However, Lizardmen have always been calling to me. Maybe I will just flesh out one of my unplayed 40k armies (Eldar) or try out Warmahordes.

I started on the Skaven first, because the Jezzails were hilarious. This relatively small ratman, carrying an ENORMOUS hand-cannon around...

After several thousand points (and a new edition), I picked up Brettonia - I was sick of painting rats, and my FLGS was clearing out their WFB stock cheap. They had more Brets than anything, so...

One edition later, the new Dark Elves came out. Saw the new Cold Ones and had to have them.

Current project is Mantic Dwarves. Looking toward an ambush list.

IF I do another army - IF - it will be Lizardmen, soley becaues of the Carnosaurs and Stegadons.

Dark Elves because I think Elves are super gay and Dark Elves rejected all the gay stuff and love to kill there homosexual counterparts even more than they love killing everything else. Also they have bad-ass pirates, blood thirsty crazy half naked chicks, and ride veloci-raptors, their economy runs on enslaving others and they have tonnes of monsters. They kick ass in the game too and also have a very diverse play style.

I went Brets because I like heavy cavalry, and having a presence in every phase of the game. If WoC had more decent shooting options I might have gone with them. I'll probably eventually take WoC as an alt army when I need a rest from Brets.
