I'm not shocked, the EB around here had it up for preorder about 2-3 weeks ago. Seems they're just that predictable now.

Fun stuff.

Doesn't Surprise me, I just wish they'd wait a few months before they announce it. Allow the CoD fans to get $60 of enjoyment out of the game first.

Why fix it if it ain't broke? People don't have to buy it you, you know that, right?

Besides, you could call pretty much every sequel in video games a rehash...

As for the comparison with cars.....

This isn't that big of a deal, COD gets a new game almost every year and is generally just the same thing but with a weak story about Russians or Terrorists, and focuses entirely on multiplayer.

The biggest indicator someone is a loser is them complaining about 3d printers or piracy.

I suppose it doesn't take long to make a new Call of Duty when all you have to do is copy and paste from the previous game...

I admit I don't play the CoD series - was there any significant difference between MW1/2/3 aside from the storyline? I mean, even the graphics can't possibly be vastly different, considering they've all come out within the past 4 years...

I will be buying the next one as I enjoy the series. As has already been pointed out we spend a lot of money a year on games workshop products, many of it copies of what we already have, yet we enjoy it and still pay for it. I mean I don't think I have ever seen an army that never had a duplicate of the same unit/kit in it.

Staying on target.....

The general consensus where i am is that MW3 is very much just MW2 MK2, one giant DLC, so save yourself some money and don't MW3 and the one released next year as it will follow the same concept and just play MW2, 80 quid well saved

I'm seventeen, I know many people who own more than 10 Games for a single console, and at one point I had over 20 games for the PS2.

I however, know only one person whose family owns more than 2 cars, and his grandfather is Jackie Stewart.

People can have many video games, but generally only one or two cars.

As someone who's played (excluding MW3) and enjoyed every CoD game since 4, I will not be getting MW3 until months and months later when I can pick it up for cheap on the PS3 from Amazon.

The series is certainly a rehash, but it's not specifically that that bothers me ("If it ain't broke, don't fix it"), it's more like Activisions business practices that bother me.

Let's take the DLC, for example. $15 for 4 or 5 maps per a map pack is ridiculous, especially when even most hardcore CoD fans acknowledge at least half the maps in each pack suck.

By comparison, look at Battlefield 3's Back to Karkand pack: 4 remade maps from Battlefield 2, 10 new weapons, and 2 new vehicles.

The price for that is $9.99, but free if you pre-ordered the limited edition of the game.

Let's see what MW3 has planned for DLC:

http://www.egmnow.com/articles/news/modern-warfare-3-to-get-20-pieces-of-dlc-over-nine-months/

...Oh.

Note that I'm not trying to start a MW3 Vs BF3 debate here about which game is better (that's entirely subjective to your own personal tastes), but I'm saying there are other companies out there who are both more innovative with their games and have much better pricing plans for future updates without having to nickle and dime their customers for things that should be free (or at least, significantly cheaper than they currently are).

It's just a frustrating business scheme and I prefer to spend my money elsewhere until there are significant price drops, personally. :S

Im still waiting for a Call of Duty with muskets and bayonets where you have to line up opposite eachother and just fire randomly and pray you dont get shot then, charge like a mad man, would be fun.

Matters very little.

Call of Duty is only successful when it makes a historical game in my eyes ( a la 1-3, Black Ops), and those are the only ones that I buy.

Aside from that, CoD will never be better than Battlefield 3. Activision will continue to prey on the weak minds of children until they realize what a piece of trash their games are.

Thank you Cheesecat, you are now on my hit list...(just kidding), but come on guys, honestly it is their own money, let them spend it their way, some people call people who buy into wargaming stupid and you guys do the same thing with people who buy/watch x product(s)/item(s), so let us just get on with our lives and not find a reason to fight each other because then it is just pointless banter.

It's similar to buying trashy novels though.
It doesn't look harmless but it eventually leads to the decline in a cultural medium. Gaming barely just got off the ground in that regard and it's already churning out more crap than a nervous stripper whale in a japanese christian church on a hot summer sunday after the ozone has been burned away by nuclear war...
Not sure how that analogy works out but it is an entertaining picture...

It's not so much that someone likes Call of Duty, or if someone wants to spend that much money on it, I've never honestly cared enough about that.

But I admit to totally flipping a bird at someone when they said "Gearbox is so freakin stupid! Why would they make Duke Nukem when they can make Borderlands 2 and 3, like what Call of Duty does, freakin "

That's what makes me hate CoD.

Lol just dont buy CoD if you dont like it.

BUT i do feel that Activision just takes advatange of people. Why do i feel this way "Repackaged blah blah blah its an expansion blah blah"

Deep down it's just sad that a game company doesn't push the limits of their abilities and try to add new things to a 6 year old game. I mean how would you feel if skyrim just had new armor no new graphics the same story line the same gameplay. nothing new at all. no new leveling system no new interface the same thing with different kinds of swords and setting (which is basically the same too).

I wouldn't want that from my beloved Bethseda. Thank god for Todd Howard. Dood knows how to make games!

For all the slaaneshy's out there

I'm sorry, but how much do you spend each year to buy new models that are only slightly different from the hundreds of other models that you own? Gamers in glasses houses shouldn't be throwing stones at people for buying "repackaged content." Fact of the matter is, Activision has two different Call of Duty development teams, meaning that each game gets a two year development window. They aren't just treadmilling the same content over and over again. And even if they were, so what? People (all types of people) really enjoy the Call of Duty series, and there's absolutely nothing wrong with that. Your attempts to characterize them all as "stupid" says more about you than it does the Call of Duty fanbase.

This is pretty much the problem right here.

If people like CoD and don't mind paying for each (half) new game, then that in itself isn't too big of a deal. The problem is that by Activision making such a HUGE killing on this, it pushes the idea to other game publishers that "Oh, hey, we can make a crap ton of money by finding that ONE thing that works, and then redoing the hell out of it!"

So then instead of the gaming industry striving to go forward, big companies are going to try and do their best to hold everything back, keep everything the same, and overcharge a ton for DLC. :<

When I am not playing Warhammer or Warmachine, I can look over and see all my finely painted models I have spent time putting together.

Can you say the same about CoD?
