It says Independant Character right in the Destroyer Lords rules... you might want to re-read that.

I just realized something that no one else seems to have hit upon: Destroyer Lords are not Independent Characters, and therefor may never join a unit of any type.
Destroyer lords ARE Independent Characters. Check again.

See my previous post. I was in error. I had a brain fart and forgot that "Independent Character" is a rule, and not a unit type.
