Wait, what. Did you get a different Necron codex to everyone else?
Because under my Wraith entry I see a very useful, multi-purpose unit with good options, wound allocation shenanigans, invulnerable save, two wounds, three attacks, rending and jump infantry for a stupid cheap points cost at less than a TH/ SS Terminator.

And wraiths are awesome now! I can't see why so many people are complaining about the new stuff in the dex. Wraiths are horrendously tough and making your opponent go at I1 causes lots of q_q.
I think some people are complaining about some of this stuff because they were expecting necrons to be GKs 2.0 as a reward for having to wait so damn long. I think a number of old school necron players developed a bit of a martyr complex with all of the marine love the xenos player have been forced to watch during 4th and 5th.
I hear ya, I guess I just don't understand how people can't see that we an overall extremely good update that is in line with and competitive with marines. No other army has the ability to alter stats with permanent changes on the same scale that necrons can now. If outfitted correctly, you can cripple every multi-wound and special character on the board to ludicrous levels (no armor save, reduce BS/ WS/A/I to 1 permanently, AV reduction attacks). I mean, this army has become such a huge denial army now and people are just complaining about it because we can't just plop things on the board and expect to win because of sheer force. That's not what they're about anymore (if they even really were before) and I don't think a lot of people realize that yet.

I will just be using the old wraiths I have 6 metal ones and I enjoy them =)
but while I do like the new codex I wish they tried to at least imply a little more sinister feel to them.

You are not free whose liberty is won by the rigour of other, more righteous souls. Your are merely protected. Your freedom is parasitic, you suck the honourable man dry and offer nothing in return. You who have enjoyed freedom, who have done nothing to earn it, your time has come. This time you will stand alone and fight for yourselves. Now you will pay for your freedom in the currency of honest toil and human blood. |

Who are you talking to? Because if it's me, I wasn't talking down to anyone. Or at least not meaning to.

Good for me, though as then I can get me some necrons at a decent price.

Being as the new/future model is not yet released, any comments on ascetics is pure speculation. You could always use your old models (and you can't complain about new models if you never like the old ones enough to purchase them!) Fluff is what you make it. You want spectral killy robots? You got it! Both editions. The rules in the new codex are, however, vastly superior.

I *am* a necron player. Started playing 40k 4 months after the old codex came out.
Don't have any other armies. Just the necron wraithwing I've been playing since I "finished" my army. I sure as hell don't think it's my fault it took so long.
I *do* blame GW though.

Let's see, C'tan with Time Arrow + Wraiths with Whip Coil = Someone is going to have a very bad day.
Perhaps the only thing that really was "nerfed" was being able to attack through cover, like a wall persay, otherwise, why you whining?

Wraiths are jump infantry, and ignore all terrain. It's the same thing. You can still attack through cover, and with Whipcoils, you go first.

They have 2 wounds, 3++ save, whip coils that reduce opponents Initiative to 1, rending, and don't have to take terrain tests. What else would you like? To autowin the game on a 2+?
i would like them to still be around after the supporting I4 guys have attacked. using coils makes an already limited and expensive unit even more expensive. its as tho GW wanted them to be some sort of assault troop but slavishly had to stick with an army wide I2 or else they are not somehow necron anymore. even tho they have a 3+ invul, thats really only a marine save vs most weapons. not that flash.

Sorry, theyre expensive? For 2W and a 3++? If you've actually bothered to position correctly those support I4 attacks are still going to struggle to hit you; 1 w for every 12 MEQ attacks - so youve managed to miss HOW many marines with your whip coils? 6 assault marines?
If you cant see jsut how damned good wraiths are, you probably shouldnt comment on 40k tactics full stop. You'll just look foolish in other ways.

You people are daft. The new wraiths (statwise at least) are objectively better than the old wraiths. Cost less, 2 wounds, wargear opening up the possibility of allocation shenanigans, can deep strike, rending... how the hell can you people complain with a straight face?

With multiple game uses, I can tell you they are now easily one of the best CC units in 40k, bar none.
Scarabs handle swarms, Wraiths demolish.. well everything.. Str 6 rending makes a big murder stain on everything.

So give 'em the particle caster too then. Ya, I don't think it's AP 4, I think it's AP 5 but that doesn't matter too much.
My point is that they're S6 Rending shots with 4 hits on the charge, almost like an assault cannon. But that's why I said " CC" and there's no " AP" for CC, technically.
